Noninvasive Focal Gene Delivery into the Cerebellum of Non‐Human Primates using Focused Ultrasound

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 37, 3 July 2026.
Focal and non‐invasive viral vector delivery in non‐human primates remains a major challenge in translational neuroscience. Low‐intensity focused ultrasound was used to transiently open the blood–brain barrier and enable targeted gene delivery to the cerebellum.

Interspecies relationships of natural amoebae and bacteria with C. elegans create environments propitious for multigenerational diapause

open access: yesmSystems
The molecular and physical communication within the microscopic world underpins the entire web of life as we know it. However, how organisms, such as bacteria, amoebae, and nematodes—all ubiquitous—interact to sustain their ecological niches ...

Unveiling the procoagulant state in Alzheimer's disease: A novel PET imaging strategy

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION A subset of Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients exhibits a procoagulant state that remains undiagnosed despite available treatments. We developed positron emission tomography (PET) strategies to in vivo detect cerebral microthrombi in TgCRND8 mice. METHODS PET was performed with a fibrin‐binding probe (FBP) in TgCRND8 and wild‐type

Diffusion approximation-based simulation of stochastic ion channels: which method to use?

open access: yesFrontiers in Computational Neuroscience, 2014
To study the effects of stochastic ion channel fluctuations on neural dynamics, several numerical implementation methods have been proposed. Gillespie’s method for Markov Chains (MC) simulation is highly accurate, yet it becomes computationally intensive

Zika Virus Inoculation During Pregnancy Impaired Maternal Care and Altered Prolactin and Corticosterone Levels in Rats

open access: yesDevelopmental Neurobiology, Volume 86, Issue 3, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Zika virus (ZIKV) is an Orthoflavivirus known for its teratogenicity and for causing congenital Zika syndrome (CZS) in the offspring, but recent studies suggest a negative impact on maternal brain health and behavior following gestational ZIKV inoculation.

Structural and Functional Neuroimaging Findings in Fibromyalgia: A Systematic Review

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 30, Issue 6, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Objective Fibromyalgia (FM) is a nociplastic chronic pain syndrome in which neuroimaging indicates central nervous system involvement, yet findings remain inconsistent across methods. We systematically reviewed structural and functional neuroimaging studies in adults with FM to identify the most reproducible cross‐modal ...

HIV Infection and Opioid Treatment Enable the Engraftment of Kaposi Sarcoma‐Like Tumors Into Immunocompetent Mice

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 98, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT The Kaposi Sarcoma herpesvirus (KSHV) causes Kaposi sarcoma (KS), primary effusion lymphoma, a lymphoproliferative disease (KSHV‐multicentric Castleman's disease), and a cytokine inflammatory syndrome (KICS). These diseases occur more frequently, though not exclusively, among people living with HIV or other types of immune dysregulation. While
