Prehospital Normoventilation in Critically Ill Anaesthetised Patients Cannot Be Reliably Monitored by Capnography—A Retrospective Observational Study

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 8, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background End‐tidal carbon dioxide capnography (EtCO2) is widely used to guide intubated patients' ventilation. Current guidelines for prehospital advanced airway management assume a gradient of approximately 0.67 kPa between EtCO2 and arterial carbon dioxide partial pressure (PaCO2).

Location‐Specific Hematoma Volume Predicts Early Neurological Deterioration in Supratentorial ICH

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 13, Issue 8, Page 1653-1661, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Early neurological deterioration (END) adversely affects outcomes in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). This study aimed to determine the location‐specific hematoma volumes for END in supratentorial ICH patients. Methods We retrospectively analyzed supratentorial ICH patients presenting from two prospective cohorts.

Ketamine Infusion Used to Successfully Control Refractory Status Epilepticus in a Pregnant Patient

open access: yesCase Reports in Neurological Medicine, 2018
The management of SE during pregnancy is especially challenging to the treating physician. While antiepileptic medications might cause teratogenicity, SE can have significant morbidity and mortality on both the mother and the developing fetus.

The Development and Validation of a Simple Method for the Determination of Meropenem Concentrations in Human Plasma Using High‐Performance Liquid Chromatography

open access: yesApplied Research, Volume 5, Issue 4, August 2026.
A simple, rapid, and sustainable HPLC‐UV method was developed and validated to quantify meropenem in human plasma across a wide linear range (0.5–100 mg/L). Utilizing an efficient one‐step protein precipitation, this eco‐friendly approach is highly suited for routine clinical therapeutic drug monitoring and research purposes.

Efficacy and Safety of Corticosteroids in Tuberculous Meningitis: Systematic Review, Meta‐Analysis, and Meta‐Regression

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Tuberculous meningitis (TBM) carries a case fatality rate of up to 50% in resource‐limited settings despite standard anti‐tuberculosis therapy. Adjunctive corticosteroids are widely recommended, yet their effect on mortality and safety across diverse populations remains imprecisely defined.

Temperature variability in the day–night cycle is associated with further intracranial pressure during therapeutic hypothermia

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine, 2017
Background To assess whether circadian patterns of temperature correlate with further values of intracranial pressure (ICP) in severe brain injury treated with hypothermia. Methods We retrospectively analyzed temperature values in subarachnoid hemorrhage

Development and Validation of an Interpretable Machine Learning‐Based Clinical Prediction Model for Short‐Term Mortality in Intracerebral Hemorrhage With Thrombocytopenia: A Multicenter Study

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 8, August 2026.
In this study, we developed and validated a clinical prediction model for the early prediction of short‐term mortality in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage complicated by thrombocytopenia. The model demonstrated good internal discrimination and acceptable external performance and may serve as a complementary tool for individualized risk ...
