Neuroendocrine differentiation in non-neuroendocrine thyroid carcinoma.

Thyroid : official journal of the American Thyroid Association, 1996
Specimens from 40 cases of thyroid carcinomas, including 35 papillary, 2 follicular, 2 undifferentiated, and 1 Hurtle cell carcinoma were analyzed for neuroendocrine differentiation with immunohistochemical tests for synapthophysin, neuron-specific enolase (NSE), chromogranin, and calcitonin; all cases were stained for thyroglobulin.

Poorly Differentiated Neuroendocrine Tumors

Hematology/Oncology Clinics of North America, 2016
Poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinomas of the gastrointestinal tract are rare and limited data are available to guide treatment. These tumors have been treated akin to small cell lung cancer given the histologic similarities. Their pathology is complex.

Differential Diagnosis in Neuroendocrine Neoplasms of the Larynx

Advances in Anatomic Pathology, 2017
The differential diagnosis of neuroendocrine neoplasms of the larynx is broad and includes lesions of epithelial, mesenchymal, and neuroectodermal origin. These lesions have overlapping clinical and pathologic aspects and must be carefully considered in the differential diagnosis of laryngeal neoplasms.

Markers for Neuroendocrine Differentation

Pathology - Research and Practice, 1988
Several morphological methods are currently available for the demonstration of neuroendocrine differentiation. Silver impregnation techniques to show argyrophilia or argentaffinity are reliable albeit limited tests for neuroendocrine cells.

Neuroendocrine Differentiation in Prostate Cancer

2013
Neuroendocrine differentiation (ND) is widely observed in prostate cancer (PC). Its role in clinical practice is controversial, but preclinical and clinical evidences underline the association of ND with poor prognosis in PC patients. Neuroendocrine (NE) cells could condition the PC progression, mainly stimulating the PC exocrine neoplastic cells ...

Poorly-differentiated colorectal neuroendocrine tumour: CT differentiation from well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumour and poorly-differentiated adenocarcinomas

European Radiology, 2017
The differentiation of poorly-differentiated neuroendocrine tumours (PD-NETs), well-differentiated NETs (WD-NETs), and adenocarcinomas (ADCs) is important due to different management options and prognoses. This study is to find the differential CT features of colorectal PD-NETs from WD-NETs and ADCs.CT features of 25 colorectal WD-NETs, 36 PD-NETs, and

Neuroendocrine carcinoid tumours of the breast: A variant of carcinoma with neuroendocrine differentiation

Journal of Surgical Oncology, 1991
AbstractCarcinoid tumours most frequently develop in the gastrointestinal tract but have been described in many organs of the body. In 1977 the first cases were reported in the mamma, followed by descriptions of argyrophilic carcinoid‐like, neuroendocrine mammary tumours by many investigators who performed immunohistochemical and ultrastructural ...

Anal Melanoma With Neuroendocrine Differentiation

International Journal of Surgical Pathology, 2015
Melanoma of the anal cavity is an uncommon malignant tumor with an aggressive clinical behavior. The presence of nonmelanocytic cell or tissue components, designated as divergent differentiation, is an unusual but well-documented phenomenon in melanoma.

Mucinous carcinoma of the breast with neuroendocrine differentiation

Pathology International, 2000
A case of mucinous carcinoma of the breast with neuroendocrine differentiation in an 89‐year‐old woman is presented. The patient presented with a rapidly growing right breast mass, which she had had for 2–3 years. The tumor, 15 × 8 × 5 cm, was located mainly in the upper outer quadrant.

Colorectal cancer with neuroendocrine differentiation in a child

Pediatric Surgery International, 2005
Colorectal cancer is extremely rare in children and presents with a poor prognosis because of the delay in diagnosis and lack of histological differentiation. We report a case of a sigmoid colon carcinoma with areas of neuroendocrine cells in a 12-year-old patient without familial occurrence of colorectal cancer.
