Upregulation of sphingomyelin and ABCA8 in response to TDP‐43 pathology in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis brain

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
Increases in sphingomyelin in response to TDP‐43 pathology in the disease‐affected motor cortex of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) brain. Abstract Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a rapidly progressing neurodegenerative disease characterized by the degeneration of motor neurons and the presence of TAR DNA‐binding protein 43 (TDP‐43 ...

Storage time affects the level and diagnostic efficacy of plasma biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research
Several promising plasma biomarker proteins, such as amyloid-β (Aβ), tau, neurofilament light chain, and glial fibrillary acidic protein, are widely used for the diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases.

Tau‐targeting active immunotherapy slows progression and reduces pathology in mouse models of tauopathy

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
The efficacy of the novel anti‐tau active immunotherapy, p5555kb, was tested using two mouse models of tau pathology. p5555kb inoculation increased the survival rate and reduced tau pathology in tau‐overexpressing P301L mice and decreased tau seeding in the brains of C57BL/6 mice injected with human‐purified Alzheimer's disease tau.

LPC18:0 Secreted by Exogenous Neural Stem Cells Potentiates Neurogenesis and Functional Recovery via GPR55‐Mediated Signalling in Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
LPC18:0 secreted by exogenous neural stem cells potentiates neurogenesis via the GPR55/AKT/GSK3β signalling axis, which ultimately promotes spinal cord injury recovery. ABSTRACT Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a devastating condition with limited therapeutic options. Although neural stem cell (NSC) transplantation shows regenerative potential, its efficacy

Long‐term effects of a multidomain intervention on cognitive function and metabolic control in older adults with type 2 diabetes and mild cognitive impairment: A 42‐month follow‐up of the J‐MIND‐Diabetes study

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims This study investigated the long‐term effects of a multidomain intervention on cognition and metabolic control in patients with type 2 diabetes and mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Materials and methods Outpatients aged 70–85 years were randomized to an 18‐month multidomain intervention (comprising metabolic/vascular risk management ...
