Individualized Lung‐Protective Ventilation Strategy Based on Esophageal Pressure Monitoring in Patients With ARDS Associated With Severe Acute Pancreatitis—A Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) secondary to severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) presents significant management challenges with high mortality rates. This study aimed to investigate the application value of an individualized lung‐protective ventilation strategy guided by esophageal pressure (Pes) monitoring in patients with ARDS associated with

Guidelines for Enhanced Recovery After Trauma and Intensive Care (ERATIC): Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Society and International Association of Trauma Surgery and Intensive Care (IATSIC) Recommendations: Paper 1: Initial Care—Pre and Intraoperative Care Until ICU, Including Non‐Operative Management

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols reduce length of stay, complications, and costs for elective surgical procedures. It remains challenging to implement ERAS concepts in the acute trauma patient due to deranged physiological reserve from the penetrating or blunt trauma producing altered physiology.

Nuclear Import Defects Drive Cell Cycle Dysregulation in Neurodegeneration

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
Overview of Dysregulated Cell Cycle Mechanisms in Neuronal Cells. A nuclear import block drives cell cycle re‐entry from G0, culminating in cell cycle arrest at G1/S. This cell cycle arrest is associated with activation of CKIs from the INK locus (p15, p16, p18, p19) and Cip/Kip (p21, p27) which act on specific CDK/Cyclin complexes.

ElixirSeeker: A Machine Learning Framework Utilizing Fusion Molecular Fingerprints for the Discovery of Lifespan‐Extending Compounds

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
ElixirSeeker is a machine learning architecture based on a phenotype‐driven drug discovery approach to screen lifespan‐extending compounds. By integrating molecular fingerprints, ElixirSeeker could maximize feature capture of lifespan‐extending compounds.
