Myasthenia Gravis Outcomes After Use of Statins and Other Contraindicated Treatments: Results From the French National Insurance Database. [PDF]

open access: yesEur J Neurol
In this real‐world study among 14,459 adults with MG, exposure to any contraindicated treatment was not significantly associated with risk of ICU admission for MG but was associated with significantly higher risk of death. In contrast, statins were associated with a greater risk of ICU admission but a lower risk of death.

Safety of electroconvulsive therapy in the context of physiological and medical complexity: A state-of-the art review. [PDF]

open access: yesPCN Rep
Abstract Medical contraindications and complications pose challenges for electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Most published reports are scattered across various physiological systems and individual disease conditions. This review aimed to evaluate the literature on physiological and medical complexities during ECT and discuss risk mitigation strategies in

Nondepolarizing Neuromuscular Blockers Inhibit the Serotonin-Type 3A Receptor Expressed in Xenopus Oocytes

open access: yesAnesthesia & Analgesia, 2000
Molecular cloning and sequence comparison indicates a high degree of structural homology between muscle nicotinic acetylcholine (nACh) and serotonin-type 3 (5-HT(3A)) receptors, both members of the direct ligand-gated family of ion channels. Because of the structural similarities and common evolutionary origin of these receptors, neuromuscular blockers

Além do

Continuous Intraoperative Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve Monitoring in Transcervical Inflatable Mediastinoscopic Esophagectomy

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 8, April 2026.
Continuous intraoperative nerve monitoring (IONM) in transcervical inflatable mediastinoscopic esophagectomy may help identify and protect RLN. ABSTRACT Transcervical inflatable mediastinoscopic esophagectomy (TIME), with fewer incisions and without going through the thoracic cavity, may achieve the same results and lymph node dissection compared with ...

A Case of Malignant Hyperthermia Following Intubation With Rocuronium

open access: yesCase Reports in Critical Care, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Malignant hyperthermia (MH) is an inherited autosomal‐dominant disorder of ryanodine receptors. While typically associated with exposure to inhaled anesthetics or depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agents (NMBAs), there have been reported cases following exposure to other conditions and medications including nondepolarizing neuromuscular ...

Noncardiogenic Pulmonary Edema After Neostigmine Administration During Emergence From General Anesthesia: A Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Anesthesiology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
We report the case of a previously healthy 27‐year‐old man who developed acute pulmonary edema shortly after receiving neostigmine‐atropine for neuromuscular blockade reversal during appendectomy under general anesthesia. Before extubation, he developed severe hypoxemia, increased airway pressures, pink frothy tracheal secretions, and bilateral diffuse

Successful Surgical Repair of Ventricular Septal Defect in a Child With Ocular Myasthenia Gravis and History of Myeloid Sarcoma Post‐HSCT: A Multidisciplinary Approach

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT A 3 year‐old child with ocular myasthenia gravis and a history of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation underwent successful ventricular septal defect repair through carefully coordinated multidisciplinary management. The tailored anesthetic approach and infection‐control strategy enabled smooth recovery without neuromuscular or immunologic ...
