Neuropeptide Y in itch regulation

open access: yesNeuropeptides, 2019
Itch is a somatosensory sensation that informs the organism about the presence of potentially harmful substances or parasites, and initiates scratching to remove the threat. Itch-inducing (pruritogenic) substances activate primary afferent neurons in the skin through interactions with specific receptors that converts the stimulus into an electrical ...

Protective Effects of Human Milk Oligosaccharides (hMOs) on Analgesic, Nonsteroidal Anti‐inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)‐Induced Disruption of Gut Barrier Integrity in Cocultures Mimicking Neuro‐Gut Epithelial Cell Crosstalk

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
Nerve cells partially mitigate indomethacin‐induced tight junction dysregulation in neuro‐gut epithelial cell cocultures. Human milk oligosaccharides 2′‐ and 3‐fucosyllactose (2′‐FL and 3‐FL) protect the neuro‐gut epithelial barrier from indomethacin‐induced damage. This protection is stronger in cocultures with higher nerve cell densities.

A comprehensive review on adaptive plasticity and recovery mechanisms post‐acquired brain injury

open access: yesNeuroprotection, EarlyView.
This figure illustrates the dynamic process of neurogenesis following brain injury, focusing on the roles of neural stem and progenitor cells at the injury site. Key mechanisms include axonal sprouting, synaptogenesis, dendritic remodeling, and brain‐derived neurotrophic factor signaling via TrkB receptors.

Fat taste sensitivity in women with obesity: transcriptomic analysis of fungiform papillae before and after bariatric surgery

open access: yesObesity, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Fat taste sensitivity has been implicated in long‐term weight loss after bariatric surgery. Unexpectedly, improvement of orosensory fat acuity was not systematic in operated patients. Methods Obesity‐induced alterations of gene expression in gustatory papillae having been recently reported, we have explored the fungiform ...

Antidepressant-like effects induced by galanin 2/neuropeptide Y Y1 heterodimers in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Previously, we have described the Galanin (GAL) and Neuropeptide Y Y1 (NPYY1) interactions through GAL receptor 2 and NPYY1 receptor 1 (GALR2/NPYY1R) heterodimers in the Dentate Gyrus (DG) of the Hippocampus, using autoradiographic, in situ ...

Long‐acting PYY3−36 analogue with semaglutide for obesity: from preclinical assessment through randomized clinical studies

open access: yesObesity, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective The hormone peptide YY (PYY; cleaved into Y2‐selective form PYY3‐36) is an attractive candidate for use as a complementary pharmacotherapy for obesity along with glucagon‐like peptide‐1 (GLP‐1) receptor agonists. This series of studies investigated a novel long‐acting PYY3‐36 analogue (PYY1875) alone and as an add‐on to semaglutide ...

Guideline for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of respiratory syncytial virus infection in children in China

open access: yesPediatric Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is one of the most common respiratory pathogens in children under 5 years of age worldwide and it seriously threatens children's health. In recent years, great progress has been made in the field of RSV‐related diseases.
