Schizophrenia and neurotrophin‐3 alleles
Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica, 1997Studies of brain anatomy and premorbid functioning indicate that schizophrenia may be of neurodevelopmental origin. In the neurotrophic factor neurotrophin‐3 (NT‐3) gene, the A3/147‐bp allele in a dinucleotide repeat polymorphism located in the promoter region was found to be associated with schizophrenia in a Japanese study. Another NT‐3 polymorphism (

Monoclonal Antibodies against Human Neurotrophin-3
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1993Hybridomas producing monoclonal antibodies (MoAbs) against human neurotrophin-3 (hNT-3) were established using recombinant hNT-3 produced in CHO cells and E. coli as immunogens. Of the five MoAbs obtained, MoAb 3w3 showed the highest antibody titer and also best neutralized NT-3 activity as measured by the survival of chick embryonic day-8 dorsal root ...

Neurotrophin-3: a neurotrophic factor related to NGF and BDNF.
Science, 1990The development and maintenance of the nervous system depends on proteins known as neurotrophic factors. Although the prototypical neurotrophic factor, nerve growth factor (NGF), has been intensively studied for decades, the discovery and ...

NEUROTROPHIN‐3 EXPRESSION IN HUMAN PANCREATIC CANCERS
The Journal of Pathology, 1997Some neurotrophic factors stimulate process outgrowth in peripheral and/or central nerve fibres. There is no published report that has focused on the expression of neurotrophic factors in human pancreatic cancer except basic fibroblast growth factor.

Nerve growth factor antibodies recognize neurotrophin-3
Neurochemical Research, 1993The immunological properties of the neurotrophins NGF, BDNF, and NT-3 were compared using polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies against the beta subunit of mouse NGF. Affinity-purified anti-NGF IgG consistently recognized NGF and NT-3 on Western blots, and inhibited the trophic activity of NGF and NT-3 but not BDNF.

Neurotrophin‐3 gene polymorphism associated with schizophrenia
Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica, 1994The recent possible neurodevelopmental etiology of schizophrenia makes the neurotrophin‐3 (NT‐3) gene an interesting candidate locus. We studied the allelic distributions of dinucleotide repeat polymorphism at the NT‐3 gene locus in 70 patients with schizophrenia and in 70 controls. A highly significant difference between the two groups was observed at

Neurotrophin-3 selectively increases cultured Purkinje cell survival
NeuroReport, 1994Nerve growth factor (NGF) has been shown to promote the survival of cultured cerebellar Purkinje cells, when tested in conjunction with metabotropic receptor activation. In the present study, we examined the effects of neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF).

Neurotrophin-3 deficient Schwann cells impair nerve regeneration
Experimental Neurology, 2008Neurotrophin 3 (NT-3) is an important autocrine factor supporting Schwann cell (SC) survival and differentiation in the absence of axons. Prior studies have failed to define the explicit role of SC versus axon in NT-3 deficiency in relation to nerve regeneration and associated remyelination. In the paradigm we studied, using NT-3 heterozygous (NT3(+/-))

Sensory ganglia require neurotrophin-3 early in development
Development, 1994ABSTRACT The role played by neurotrophin-3 during the development of quail sensory ganglia was investigated using a mono-clonal antibody that specifically blocks the biological activity of this neurotrophin. Neutralisation of neu-rotrophin-3 was initiated during completion of gangliogen-esis.

Neurotrophin–3 is required for proper cerebellar development
Nature Neuroscience, 1999Neurotrophin–3 (NT–3) is a member of the neurotrophin family, which includes nerve growth factor (NGF), brain–derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and neurotrophin–4/5 (NT–4/5). These factors are crucial for development of the peripheral nervous system1, but not the central nervous system (CNS), except that NT–3 and BDNF have been implicated in the ...
