Alterations in neurotrophins and neurotrophin receptors in Alzheimer’s disease
2000We demonstrated that nerve growth factor (NGF) levels were increased in hippocampus and cortical areas, as well as in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD). Such increases may, at least in part, be due to a decreased expression of the NGF high affinity receptor trkA.

Neurotrophin and Neurotrophin Receptor Protein Expression in the Human Lung
American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology, 2004Abstract Neurotrophins (NTs) promote survival and differentiation of central and peripheral neurons, and display several activities also in non-neuronal cells. Human lungs synthesize and release NTs, which are probably involved in the pathophysiology of pulmonary disturbances.
