Chronic Stress Induces Neurotrophin-3 in Rat Submandibular Gland [PDF]

open access: goldYonsei Medical Journal, 2012
Plasma neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) levels are associated with several neural disorders. We previously reported that neurotrophins were released from salivary glands following acute immobilization stress. While the salivary glands were the source of plasma neurotrophins in that situation, the association between the expression of neurotrophins and the ...

Neurotrophin-3 promotes the cholinergic differentiation of sympathetic neurons [PDF]

open access: greenProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2000
Neurotrophins influence the epigenetic shaping of the vertebrate nervous system by regulating neuronal numbers during development and synaptic plasticity. Here we attempt to determine whether these growth factors can also regulate neurotransmitter plasticity.

Neurotrophin-3 signals redistribute RNA in neurons [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1997
The translocation of specific mRNAs to dendrites and their potential for locally regulated translation are likely to serve as an effector in neuronal plasticity. Whether translation in dendrites is regulated by delivery of the RNA to sites of plasticity or a stationary pool of localized RNA undergoes enhanced translational efficiency is not clear.

Neurotrophin‐3 receptors in the developing chicken retina [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1993
Neurotrophin 3 (NT‐3) had specific high‐affinity receptors (HNT‐3R) in the developing chick retina at all ages between embryonic day (E) 4 and E14. The affinity of HNT‐3R for 125I‐NT‐3 did not change with the developmental state. A dissociation constant (kd) of 13 pM was obtained.

Serum neurotrophin-3 and neurotrophin-4 levels are associated with asthma severity in children [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Respiratory Journal, 2012
To the Editors: Asthma is the most common chronic disease in childhood and is characterised by chronic airway inflammation, reversible airflow obstruction and hyperresponsiveness of the airways. Among the substantial pathophysiological aspects of asthma are neuroimmune interaction mechanisms; neurotrophins are mediators of the interactions providing ...

Crystallization and preliminary structural studies of neurotrophin‐3 [PDF]

open access: yesProtein Science, 1994
AbstractNeurotrophin‐3 (NT‐3) has been crystallized in 2 forms. Orthorhombic crystals, space group P21212, diffracted to 2.8 Å and have cell dimensions a = 39.1 Å, b = 54.0 Å, and c = 65.5 Å. The second form is space group P43212, with cell dimensions a = b = 67.1 Å, and c = 107.9 Å. The tetragonal crystals diffract to 2.8 Å at room temperature and 2.5
