Neurotrophin-3 and neurotrophin receptor immunoreactivity in peptidergic enteric neurons

Peptides, 2000
In the rat small intestine, neurotrophin-3 immunoreactivity was identified in ganglion cells and in processes mostly innervating the mucosa and occasionally the muscle layer and vasculature. The vast majority of neurotrophin-3 immunoreactive neurons contained vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP), but not substance P or related tachykinin (SP/TK ...

Neurotrophin-3 Improves Functional Constipation

American Journal of Gastroenterology, 2003
Neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) is a neurotrophic factor involved in the growth, development, and function of the nervous system. In preliminary studies, s.c. recombinant methionyl-human NT-3 enhanced transit throughout the GI tract and increased stool frequency in normal and constipated subjects.

NEUROTROPHIN‐3 EXPRESSION IN HUMAN PANCREATIC CANCERS

The Journal of Pathology, 1997
Some neurotrophic factors stimulate process outgrowth in peripheral and/or central nerve fibres. There is no published report that has focused on the expression of neurotrophic factors in human pancreatic cancer except basic fibroblast growth factor.

Neurotrophin‐3 gene polymorphism associated with schizophrenia

Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica, 1994
The recent possible neurodevelopmental etiology of schizophrenia makes the neurotrophin‐3 (NT‐3) gene an interesting candidate locus. We studied the allelic distributions of dinucleotide repeat polymorphism at the NT‐3 gene locus in 70 patients with schizophrenia and in 70 controls. A highly significant difference between the two groups was observed at

A crucial role for neurotrophin-3 in oligodendrocyte development

Nature, 1994
The neurotrophins nerve growth factor, brain-derived neurotrophic factor, neurotrophin-3 and neurotrophin-4/5 promote the survival of subpopulations of vertebrate neurons in vitro, but so far only nerve growth factor has been demonstrated to be essential for normal neuronal development; no neurotrophin has previously been shown to function in normal ...

Macrophages express neurotrophins and neurotrophin receptors

Journal of Neuroimmunology, 2001
In this study we examined the expression of neurotrophins and their receptors in mouse macrophages and the effects of the neurotrophins on nitric oxide secretion. Macrophages expressed TrkB and TrkC but not BDNF, NT-3 or NT-4. LPS induced up-regulation of TrkB and TrkC and of BDNF and NT-3 expression.

Neurotrophin–3 is required for proper cerebellar development

Nature Neuroscience, 1999
Neurotrophin–3 (NT–3) is a member of the neurotrophin family, which includes nerve growth factor (NGF), brain–derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and neurotrophin–4/5 (NT–4/5). These factors are crucial for development of the peripheral nervous system1, but not the central nervous system (CNS), except that NT–3 and BDNF have been implicated in the ...

Neurotrophin-3 modulates synaptic transmission

2020
Neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) belongs to a family of growth factors called neurotrophins whose actions are centered in the nervous system. NT-3 is structurally related to other neurotrophins like brain-derived neurotrophic factor. The expression of NT-3 starts with the onset of neurogenesis and continues throughout life.

Neurotrophin 3 is increased in the spontaneously hypertensive rat

Journal of Hypertension, 2001
To determine whether the noradrenergic sympathetic hyperinnervation in the spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR), a genetic model of essential hypertension, is associated with changes in neurotrophin 3 (NT3) concentrations.NT3 levels were measured using a sensitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in the superior cervical ganglia (SCG), heart ...

Monoclonal Antibodies against Human Neurotrophin-3

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1993
Hybridomas producing monoclonal antibodies (MoAbs) against human neurotrophin-3 (hNT-3) were established using recombinant hNT-3 produced in CHO cells and E. coli as immunogens. Of the five MoAbs obtained, MoAb 3w3 showed the highest antibody titer and also best neutralized NT-3 activity as measured by the survival of chick embryonic day-8 dorsal root ...
