This research identified cardiac amyloid pathology, neurotrophic factor depletion, and reduced myocardial nerve function in a transgenic model of cerebral amyloidosis (Tg2576), Aβ‐challenged cardiomyocytes, and in human AD heart tissue. These findings carry significant diagnostic and therapeutic implications, emphasizing the role of neuro‐signaling ...

Background Neurotrophins and their Trk and p75NTR receptors play an important role in the nervous system. To date, neurotrophins, Trk and p75NTR have only been found concomitantly in deuterostomes.

Neurotrophin-3-enhanced nerve regeneration selectively improves recovery of muscle fibers expressing myosin heavy chains 2b [PDF]
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of neurotrophin 3 (NT-3) enhanced nerve regeneration on the reinnervation of a target muscle. Muscle fibers can be classified according to their mechanical properties and myosin heavy chain (MHC ...

Dual Targeting of Tau Kinases and Autophagy by Abemaciclib Independent of CDK4/6 Inhibition
Abemaciclib rescues cognitive function and attenuates tau pathology in Alzheimer's disease models, but not through its known cancer‐fighting mechanism. This study demonstrates that abemaciclib operates independently of CDK4/6 inhibition, instead directly targeting tau kinases CaMKII and GSK3β while simultaneously promoting autophagic clearance of ...

Background Ischemia within the optic nerve head (ONH) may contribute to retinal ganglion cell (RGC) loss in primary open angle glaucoma (POAG). Ischemia has been reported to increase neurotrophin and high affinity Trk receptor expression by CNS neurons ...

Beyond antioxidants: the cellular and molecular interactions of flavonoids and how these underpin their actions on the brain [PDF]
The consumption of flavonoid-rich foods and beverages has been suggested to limit the neurodegeneration associated with a variety of neurological disorders and to prevent or reverse normal or abnormal deteriorations in cognitive performance.

Monoaminylation in Human Health and Disease: State of the Field, Challenges, and Emerging Directions
This review delineates monoaminylation—serotonylation, dopaminylation, and histaminylation—as key post‐translational modifications beyond receptor signaling. It details their catalytic mechanisms, roles in gene expression and protein function, and implications in health and disease, aiming to bridge mechanistic insights with therapeutic potential ...

Neuroprotective mechanism of BNG-1 against focal cerebral ischemia: a neuroimaging and neurotrophin study. [PDF]
BNG-1 is a herb complex used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat stroke. In this study, we attempted to identify the neuroprotective mechanism of BNG-1 by using neuroimaging and neurotrophin analyses of a stroke animal model.

Neurotrophin-3 modulates noradrenergic neuron function and opiate withdrawal [PDF]
Somatic symptoms and aversion of opiate withdrawal, regulated by noradrenergic signaling, were attenuated in mice with a CNS-wide conditional ablation of neurotrophin-3. This occurred in conjunction with altered cAMP-mediated excitation and reduced upregulation of tyrosine hydroxylase in A6 (locus coeruleus) without loss of neurons.
