How and to which extent can the gas sector contribute to a climate-neutral European energy system? A qualitative approach

open access: yesEnergy, Sustainability and Society, 2019
Background Mitigating climate change requires fundamentally redesigned energy systems in which renewable energy sources ultimately replace fossil fuels such as natural gas.

Gut microbiota alterations in patients with non‐small‐cell lung cancer undergoing chemoradiotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We investigated the impact of concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CRT) on the gut microbiota in patients with locally advanced non‐small‐cell lung cancer. Overall gut microbiota composition remained largely stable throughout CRT while antibiotic exposure may influence microbial diversity.

Extracellular matrix remodeling and immune reprogramming drive residual tumor progression of liver cancer after incomplete microwave ablation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Incomplete microwave ablation (iMWA) of liver cancer triggers a biphasic progression in residual tumors. At Day 3, the microenvironment is characterized by acute inflammatory responses and extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling. By Day 14, a profound shift occurs toward oncogenic signal transduction and immunosuppression, marked by macrophage ...

A Coordinated Control Strategy for Current Zero-Crossing Distortion Suppression and Neutral-Point Potential Balance in Unidirectional Three-Level Back-to-Back Converters

open access: yesMachines
Unidirectional multilevel back-to-back (BTB) converters are widely employed in renewable energy generation systems and in motor drives for coal mining operations. However, the current zero-crossing distortion (CZCD) on the grid side and the neutral-point

Natural Balancing of the Neutral Point Potential of a Three-Level Inverter with Improved Firefly Algorithm

open access: yesJournal of Power Electronics, 2016
Modern power systems driven by high-power converters have become inevitable in view of the ever increasing demand for electric power. The total power loss can be reduced by limiting the switching losses in such power converters; increased power efficiency can thus be achieved.

Pathways and pitfalls: a qualitative study of student experiences in biomedical science education

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biomedical science students from underrepresented backgrounds face barriers including financial strain, disrupted laboratory access and cultural exclusion. Peer networks provide vital support when institutional systems are difficult to navigate. To create inclusive learning environments and achieve academic success, educators should blend active, hands‐

An Improved Space Vector PWM Algorithm with a Seven-Stage Switching Sequence for Three-Level Neutral Point Clamped Voltage Source Inverters

open access: yesEnergies
The main purpose of this research is to develop an improved space vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM) algorithm for three-level (3L) neutral point clamped (NPC) voltage source inverters (VSIs).

Prospects for generating electricity by large onshore and offshore wind farms

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2017
The decarbonisation of energy sources requires additional investments in renewable technologies, including the installation of onshore and offshore wind farms. For wind energy to remain competitive, wind farms must continue to provide low-cost power even

The Importance of Armenian Sources in Understanding the History of the Khwarazmian Dynasty: A Case Study of the “Battle of Garni” [PDF]

open access: yesپژوهش های تاریخی
Exploration of the history of the Khwarazmian dynasty and analysis of Sultan Jalal al-Din Khwarazmshah’s conquests in the Caucasus cannot provide a comprehensive and accurate understanding of this pivotal historical period without considering ...

Adenosine triphosphate as a modulator of protein interactions and stability

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ATP is best known as the cell's energy currency, but it also shapes how proteins fold, interact, aggregate and form biomolecular condensates. This review explains the emerging physical principles behind these effects, including weak binding to charged protein regions, magnesium‐dependent behaviour and concentration‐dependent control of protein ...
