Flexoelectricity in Photoconversion: Fundamentals, Materials, and Outlooks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mechanical bending of a flexible cantilever induces a strain gradient in the photoactive material. The resulting flexoelectric field couples with photovoltaic and photoconductive effects, modulating charge generation, separation, and collection. A comparative analysis of oxide perovskites, halide perovskites, and two‐dimensional materials is presented,

Radio jet-blow neutral hydrogen supershells in spiral galaxies? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Taking a clue from the pair of HI supershells found in the Scd galaxy NGC 3556 (M 108), we propose a new mechanism for the origin of HI supershells in gas-rich massive galaxies.

Dual‐Substrate Synergistic Photocatalysis: Exogenous Reagent‐Free Co‐Removal of Phenol and Cr(VI) via Electron‐Donor‐Mediated Redox Coupling over Modified Carbon Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An exogenous reagent‐free dual‐substrate strategy harnesses phenol as an intrinsic electron donor to drive synchronous phenol degradation and Cr(VI) reduction over modified carbon nitride. π–π stacking and hydrogen bonding direct electron transfer to the catalyst, enriching photogenerated electrons and accelerating Cr(VI) reduction 6.4‐fold. This waste‐

The Ultraviolet-Optical Albedo of Broad Emission Line Clouds

open access: yes, 1998
We explore the effective UV-optical albedos of a variety of types of broad emission line clouds, as well as their possible effects on the observed spectra of active galactic nuclei (AGNs).

Oxygen Vacancy‐Enriched Platinum Single‐Atom Nanozyme Wrapped in Nanoislands: Unlocking Catalytic Activity and Reprogramming Redox Microenvironment for Osteonecrosis Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CeO2‐x/Pt single‐atom nano‐island is constructed via low‐temperature reduction, featuring abundant oxygen vacancies and an island–sea structure. It delivers outstanding multi‐enzyme‐mimetic activity and ROS‐scavenging efficiency. Density functional theory reveals optimized electronic structures and reaction pathways.

Photonic‐Enabled Energy‐Efficient Transparent Neuromorphic Computing Devices: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Transparent photonic neuromorphic computing devices merge optics and brain‐inspired computing to overcome von Neumann bottlenecks with ultrafast, low‐energy processing. By exploiting transparent oxides, 2D materials, phase‐change materials, and hybrid heterostructures, these platforms enable photonic synapses, memory, and logic for see‐through edge ...

A supershell model for the high- and intermediate-velocity neutral hydrogen clouds

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1993
The velocities and spatial distribution of high- and intermediate-velocity neutral hydrogen gas in the second quadrant of Galactic longitude in the northern hemisphere are accounted for in terms of a model in which the clouds appear to be part of a vast supershell with an elliptical cross section normal to the Galactic disk. Its origin appears to be in

The Distance to Two Neutral Hydrogen Clouds: The High‐Velocity Complex A and the Low‐Latitude Intermediate‐Velocity Cloud

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1996
A lower limit to the distance of the high-velocity cloud (HVC) complex A of 4 kpc (z > 3 kpc) is derived. The HVC is detected toward the Seyfert galaxy Mrk 106 in Mg n ΛΛ2796, 2803 absorption spectra taken with Hubble Space Telescope (HST) proving that Mg+ is present in the cloud.

On The Origin Of Neutral Hydrogen Clouds In Nearby Galaxy Groups: The Role Of Galaxy Interactions

open access: yes, 2010
This thesis addresses the origin of the High Velocity Clouds (HVCs) observed around the Milky Way and other nearby galaxies. Such clouds are likely created through a combination of galactic fountains, galaxy interactions, dark matter substructure, and ...

SuFEx‐Enabled Reprogramming of Flavonoids for Selective α‐Glucosidase Covalent Inhibition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Selective inhibition of intestinal α‐glucosidase remains limited by poor enzyme specificity and off‐target metabolic effects. Here, SuFEx click chemistry is used to reprogram natural flavonoids into covalent inhibitors with enhanced α‐glucosidase selectivity and controlled reactivity. This strategy enables effective regulation of carbohydrate digestion
