Process optimization using response surface design for diacylglycerol synthesis from palm fatty acid distillate by enzymatic esterification [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2013
Diacylglycerols (DAG) were synthesized by lipase-catalyzed esterification of glycerol with palm fatty acid distillate(PFAD). Lipase from Rhizomucor miehei was used and the reaction was carried out at 45°C.

PHYTORECULTIVATION OF ROCK MASS DUMPS WITH APPLICATION OF PRODUCT OF UTILIZATION OF INDUSTRIAL WASTES AS A FERTILIZER [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
One of the types of man-made landscapes are dumps of spent rock mass, which, occupying significant areas of the earth's surface, change the terrain, are sources of secondary pollution of atmospheric air by dust and subsequent ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Evidence for West Nile Virus and Usutu Virus Infections in Wild and Resident Birds in Germany, 2017 and 2018 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Wild birds play an important role as reservoir hosts and vectors for zoonotic arboviruses and foster their spread. Usutu virus (USUV) has been circulating endemically in Germany since 2011, while West Nile virus (WNV) was first diagnosed in several bird ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Aspects of Cooling at the TRI$\mu$P Facility

open access: yes, 2006
The Tri$\mu$P facility at KVI is dedicated to provide short lived radioactive isotopes at low kinetic energies to users. It comprised different cooling schemes for a variety of energy ranges, from GeV down to the neV scale.

Mapping the complete glycoproteome of virion-derived HIV-1 gp120 provides insights into broadly neutralizing antibody binding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The surface envelope glycoprotein (SU) of Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1), gp120SU plays an essential role in virus binding to target CD4+ T-cells and is a major vaccine target.

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Synthesis and Spectroscopic Characterization of Protic Tris(2-Hydroxyethyl)-Ammonium Ionic Liquids

open access: yesJournal of the Turkish Chemical Society, Section A: Chemistry, 2020
Protic ionic liquids (PILs) having tris(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium (or triethanolammonium) as cations and methacrylate, dihydrogenborate, formate, acetate as anions have been synthesized through stoichiometric neutralization reaction.
