Modulating the Swelling Behavior of Polymer Brushes via Interfacial Chemistry

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Modulating substrate surface chemistry of surface‐grafted polymer brushes via variation of the chemical composition of spacers that anchor initiators for surface‐initiated atom transfer polymerizations allows to tune swelling of these thin polymer films.

Site‐Selective B─H Activation via HAT Toward Xanthyl‐closo‐Carboranes as Bench‐Stable Precursors of Organosulfur Boron Clusters

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A light mediated direct regioselective B─H functionalization, via hydrogen atom transfer (HAT), is described. Unexplored xanthyl‐closo‐carboranes as novel bench‐stable and versatile platforms to access sulfur‐containing boron clusters are reported for the first time.

Mixing‐Driven Defects and Composition Evolution in Multi‐Material Metal Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Operando synchrotron X‐ray imaging coupled with high‐fidelity multiphysics modeling uncovers how inter‐material mixing reshapes keyhole dynamics and drives distinct pore‐formation pathways in multi‐material laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). Composition‐dependent instabilities trigger defects, whereas rescanning suppresses porosity and homogenizes Cu ...

The Influence Of Neutron Capture Rates On The Rare Earth Region Of The r-Process Abundance Pattern

open access: yes, 2012
We study the sensitivity of the r-process abundance pattern to neutron capture rates along the rare earth region (A~150 to A~180). We introduce the concepts of large nuclear flow and flow saturation which determine the neutron capture rates that are ...

Atomically Modulating Competing Exchange Interactions in Centrosymmetric Skyrmion Hosts GdRu2X2 (X = Si and Ge)

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Our work bridges the gap between skyrmion discovery and material design by demonstrating how atomic‐scale control of exchange interactions enables tunable skyrmion phase transitions in centrosymmetric magnetic metals. ABSTRACT Magnetic skyrmions are topologically protected spin states that hold promise for shaping the future of electronics.

Neutron capture cross section of 185Re leading to ground and isomer states of 186Re in the keV-neutron energy region

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
The neutron capture cross section of 185Re was measured in the astrophysically important energy region. Measurements were made using a neutron beam from a 7Li(p,n)7Be neutron source with energies ranging from 3 to 90 keV.

Detection of 2.223 MeV γ-rays for Water Identification in Spent Nuclear Fuel Assemblies [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
The detection of 2.223 MeV γ-ray emissions resulting from neutron capture on hydrogen, to monitor water presence in spent nuclear fuel (SNF) assemblies is described.

Measurement of direct neutron capture by neutron-rich sulfur isotopes

open access: yes, 1996
Thermal neutron capture cross sections for $^{34}$S(n,$\gamma$)$^{35}$S and $^{36}$S(n,$\gamma$)$^{37}$S have been measured and spectroscopic factors of the final states have been extracted.

Disorder‐Driven Fast Na+ Transport: From Crystalline to Amorphous Networks in the Mixed‐Anion NaTaOxCl6−2x Oxychlorides

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Oxygen substitution in NaTaOxCl6‐2x drives structural evolution from isolated [TaCl6]– octahedra, through oxygen‐bridged [Ta2OCl10]2– dimers, toward extended trans‐[TaO2Cl4]3– chain‐like arrangements. At intermediate compositions, zero‐dimensional corner‐sharing motifs are proposed to create a flexible, disordered framework that peaks ionic ...
