Proper Ferroelectricity in the Dion?Jacobson Material CsBi2Ti2NbO10: Experiment and Theory [PDF]
A diverse range of materials and properties are exhibited by layered perovskites. We report on the synthesis, characterization, and computational investigation of a new ferroelectric?CsBi2Ti2NbO10, an n = 3 member of the Dion?Jacobson (DJ) family ...

Negatively charged boron vacancy defects in hexagonal boron nitride promise near‐surface quantum sensing, but their internal spin transition rates are only partly understood. This work directly measures the defect's singlet‐state lifetime, 15(3) ns, using a nanosecond rise‐time dual‐pulse photoluminescence‐recovery method, and shows that high laser ...

Temperature‐dependent electron diffraction on tin monochalcogenides demonstrates a gradual displacive transformation between ferroelectric and paraelectric phases with significant variability in lattice constants and Curie temperature (TC). Periodic variations exist even between domains in individual crystals, implying a domain‐specific Curie ...

Optical Alignment and Sample Positioning in Neutron Residual Stress Characterization
Neutron residual stress characterization involves measurement at three principal directions of the sample. However, the measurement of the third principal direction usually requires rotation of sample manually.

The effect of weld residual stresses and their re-distribution with crack growth during fatigue under constant amplitude loading [PDF]
In this work the evolution of the residual stresses in a MIG-welded 2024-T3 aluminium alloy M(T) specimen during in situ fatigue crack growth at constant load amplitude has been measured with neutron diffraction.

This study achieves anisotropic thermal expansion tuning in Nd2(Co1‐xFex)17‐yCry compounds via a magnetoelastic strategy. Variable‐temperature synchrotron X‐ray diffraction reveals that increased Fe content induces switchable lattice responses. Compositional control reduces the volume expansion coefficient αV by 20% (x═0.7) and modulates TC (442–625 K),

An integrated approach to the determination and consequences of residual stress on the fatigue performance of welded aircraft structures [PDF]
Although residual stress in welded structures and components has long been known to have an effect on their fatigue performance, access to reliable, spatially accurate residual stress field data has been limited.

New High‐Tc Charge‐Transfer Multiferroicity in the Quasi‐2D Antiferromagnet CrSbS3
ABSTRACT Low‐dimensional magnets, particularly 2D systems, offer a rich platform for realizing unconventional multiferroic mechanisms, especially when multiple polarization channels coexist. In the quasi‐2D antiferromagnet CrSbS3, which crystallizes in the centrosymmetric orthorhombic space group Pnma and orders magnetically at TN ≈ 90 K, two ...
