Degradation Mechanisms in PEM Water Electrolysis: Diagnosis and Impact

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review provides an analysis of degradation mechanisms in proton electrolyte membrane water electrolyzers (PEMWE), focusing on all key components. It discusses diagnostic and measurement techniques for evaluating degradation, less‐studied mechanisms, and an expert survey.

Neutron diffraction [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1949
Abstract The problem of neutron diffraction by crystals is treated by analogy with X-ray diffraction, consideration being given to the perfect crystal, the mosaic crystal and the powdered block. The first part of the paper deals with a comparison between X-ray and neutron diffraction and it is shown that quantitatively the two are ...

Flexible and High‐Performance Perovskite‐Polymer Composites for Dual X‐Ray and Proton Direct Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A polymer–perovskite composite obtained by mechanochemical synthesis enables thick, tunable active layers for efficient absorption of highly penetrating ionizing radiation. Vertical‐electrode detectors achieve low X‐ray detection limits and high sensitivity direct 5 MeV proton sensing.

Coupled neutronic-thermal-mechanical simulation of the KRUSTY heat pipe microreactor

open access: yesFrontiers in Nuclear Engineering
Multiphysics analysis has become a common technique for nuclear reactor design validation, with neutronic-thermal analysis being the typical choice for understanding reactor dynamics.

Development of an Analytic Nodal Diffusion Solver in Multigroups for 3D Reactor Cores with Rectangular or Hexagonal Assemblies. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
More accurate modelling of physical phenomena involved in present and future nuclear reactors requires a multi-scale and multi-physics approach. This challenge can be accomplished by the coupling of best-estimate core-physics, thermal-hydraulics and ...

Nanocrystal Quality–Controlled Scintillation in Porous YAG:Ce Aerogels

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature thermal treatment of YAG:Ce nanoscintillator aerogels increases light yield under ionizing radiation by up to eightfold without affecting timing performance. Additionally, low‐temperature atmospheric treatments reversibly modify the cerium oxidation state, revealing strong defect sensitivity and offering new strategies to optimize ...

Displacive In‐Plane Ferroelectricity with Domain‐Specific Curie Temperature in Van der Waals Semiconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Temperature‐dependent electron diffraction on tin monochalcogenides demonstrates a gradual displacive transformation between ferroelectric and paraelectric phases with significant variability in lattice constants and Curie temperature (TC). Periodic variations exist even between domains in individual crystals, implying a domain‐specific Curie ...
