Chronic radiation exposure aggravates atherosclerosis by stimulating neutrophil infiltration

International Journal of Radiation Biology, 2021
Radiation exposure is known to increase the risk of chronic inflammatory diseases, such as atherosclerosis, by modulating inflammation. To investigate the infiltration of leukocytes in radiation-aggravated atherosclerosis, we examined low-density lipoprotein receptor-deficient (Ldlr-/-) mice and C57BL/6j mice after exposure to 0.5 or 1 Gy radiation over

Neutrophil infiltration in allergic contact dermatitis to nickel

British Journal of Dermatology
Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) is traditionally recognized as a T-cell-mediated delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction. However, many patients with ACD have been reported to experience rapid-onset ACD reactions within hours of re-exposure on skin areas previously exposed to the contact allergen.

Neutrophil Infiltration and Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 in Lacunar Infarction

Neurochemical Research, 2017
We use the modified pial vessel disruption rat model to elucidate the cellular and molecular mechanisms of cavitation as it plays a role in lacunar infarction. Here we discuss the similarities between the genesis of pulmonary cavitation in various animal models and lacunar infarction in the cerebral cortex of rats.

Statins Inhibit Neutrophil Infiltration in Skeletal Muscle Reperfusion Injury

Journal of Surgical Research, 2007
Neutrophil infiltration is a major determinant of ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI). Statins improve endothelial function by elevating nitric oxide synthase activity and inhibiting adhesion molecule expression and may, therefore, inhibit IRI-induced neutrophil extravasation.

Phalloidin attenuates postischemic neutrophil infiltration and increased microvascular permeability

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1991
The aim of this study was to determine whether phalloidin (1 microM) or antamanide (1 microM), cyclic peptides that stabilize dense peripheral band and stress fiber F-actin in endothelium, would attenuate the increase in microvascular permeability induced by 4 h of ischemia and 30 min of reperfusion (I/R) in the isolated canine gracilis muscle ...

Characteristics of neutrophils infiltration in ventilation-induced lung injury

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology [Medical Sciences], 2012
Neutrophils play a critical role in ventilation-induced lung injury. This study was aimed to investigate the characteristics of neutrophils influx in lungs induced by high tidal volume ventilation. Anaesthetized rats were randomly divided into low tidal volume ventilation group (Vt: 7 mL/kg, LV group) or high tidal volume ventilation group (Vt: 42 mL ...

Neutrophilic dermal infiltrates in granulocytopenic patients with acute leukemia

Annals of Hematology, 1995
Acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis (AFND, Sweet's syndrome) is clinically characterized by fever, neutrophilic leukocytosis, and tender dermal plaques. Histological examination typically reveals infiltration of the dermis by neutrophils. In three patients (2 female, 1 male, 54-59 years) with acute leukemia (2 myelogenous, 1 lymphoblastic) dermal ...

Pulmonary Neutrophil Infiltration in Murine Sepsis

American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, 2004
Nitric oxide (NO) derived from inducible NO synthase (iNOS) contributes to the pathophysiology of acute lung injury (ALI). The effect of iNOS on pulmonary neutrophil infiltration in ALI is not known. Thus, we assessed pulmonary microvascular neutrophil sequestration through intravital videomicroscopy and pulmonary neutrophil infiltration, reflected by ...
