Digitized Continuous Magnetic Recordings for the August/September 1859 Storms From London, UK

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 22, Issue 3, March 2024.
Abstract Dedicated scientific measurements of the strength and direction of the Earth's magnetic field began at Greenwich and Kew observatories in London, United Kingdom, in the middle of the nineteenth century. Using advanced techniques for the time, collimated light was focussed onto mirrors mounted on free‐swinging magnetized needles which reflected

Value distribution and potential theory

open access: yes, 2002
We describe some results of value distribution theory of holomorphic curves and quasiregular maps, which are obtained using potential theory. Among the results discussed are: extensions of Picard's theorems to quasiregular maps between Riemannian ...

Converse growth estimates for ODEs with slowly growing solutions

open access: yes, 2018
Let $f_1,f_2$ be linearly independent solutions of $f''+Af=0$, where the coefficient $A$ is an analytic function in the open unit disc $\mathbb{D}$ of $\mathbb{C}$.

Integrals of differences of subharmonic functions. I. An integral inequality with Nevanlinna characteristic and modulus of continuity of measure

open access: yes, 2021
We obtain new integral inequalities for the integrals of the difference of subharmonic functions in measure through their Nevanlinna characteristic and some functional characteristic of the measure. These results are new also for meromorphic functions. Let us illustrate the main result for the case of a meromorphic function.

Meromorphic functions and differences of subharmonic functions in integrals and the difference characteristic of Nevanlinna. II. Explicit estimates of the integral of the radial maximum growth characteristic

open access: yes, 2021
Let $U\not\equiv \pm\infty$ be the difference of subharmonic functions, i.e., a $ $-subharmonic function, on a closed disc of radius $R$ centered at zero. In the preceding first part of our paper, we obtained general estimates for the integral of the positive part of the radial maximum growth characteristic ${\mathsf M}_U(t):=\sup\bigl\{U(z)\bigm| |z|=
