Impact of nonadditive genetic effects in the estimation of breeding values for fertility and correlated traits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The effects of inbreeding, heterosis, recombination loss, and percentage Holstein on the estimation of predicted transmitting abilities for fertility traits (calving interval, number of days from calving to first insemination, nonreturn rate, number of ...

On the extremum principle of natural with inbreeding

open access: yes, 1997
The extremum principle in the genetical theory of natural selection has been discussed when the population undergoes inbreeding at a constant value of the inbreeding coefficient with constant fitness of the three genotypes possible with two alleles at a ...

Localized resources enable noninvasive genetic monitoring of small populations of mountain ungulates

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, EarlyView.
Using microsatellite analysis of fecal samples collected at mineral licks from 2019–2022, we assessed abundance, apparent survival and genetics of bighorn sheep in the Teton Range, Wyoming, USA. Annual abundance estimates ranged from 118−132 individuals split into 2 similar‐sized demes and apparent survival estimates ranged from 0.72–0.92.

Testicular Echobiometry and Sperm Characterization in Oncilla (Leopardus tigrinus) From the Caatinga Biome

open access: yesZoo Biology, EarlyView.
We describe testicular echobiometry and sperm characterization in oncilla (Leopardus tigrinus) from the Caatinga biome, Ceará, Brazil. ABSTRACT Among neotropical small felids, the Leopardus tigrinus is classified as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, but studies on reproductive morphology and physiology are scarce for ...
