Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

First records and range extension of Ophioblenna antillensis (Echinodermata: Ophiuroidea) in the Gulf of Mexico

open access: yesRevista Mexicana de Biodiversidad, 2015
The geographic distribution of Ophioblenna antillensis Lütken, 1859 is extended inside the Gulf of Mexico. This species is otherwise known in the Caribbean region as the “slimy snake of the Antilles”, and is recognizable by soft skin covering the entire ...

Self-organizing search lists using probabilistic back-pointers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
A class of algorithms is given for maintaining self-organizing sequential search lists, where the only permutation applied is to move the accessed record of each search some distance towards the front of the list. During searches, these algorithms retain

Two hypergeometric tales and a new irrationality measure of $\zeta(2)$

open access: yes, 2014
We prove the new upper bound 5.095412 for the irrationality exponent of $\zeta(2)=\pi^2/6$; the earlier record bound 5.441243 was established in 1996 by G. Rhin and C.

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...
