Progress of the Plasma Centerpost for the PROTO-SPHERA Spherical Tokamak

open access: yesEnergies, 2016
Plasma properties can be useful in a wide spectrum of applications. Experimental projects on controlled nuclear fusion are the most challenging of these applications and, at the same time, the best way to approach plasma science.

Training for New Technologies. Handwriting with New Technologies

open access: yesProcedia - Social and Behavioral Sciences, 2014
AbstractIn the context of a digital age that covered all sectors of modern life, new technologies are suffering multiple interpretations, approaches and different uses. To pass through a stage of adult education means to relate to what is new, but also valuable and able to be used in different contexts.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Design, assembly, alignment and application of a versatile, open-source, single-pixel microscope

open access: yesScientific Reports
Single-pixel microscopy (SPM) is an emerging imaging technique in which a sample is illuminated with a series of micro-structured light patterns, typically generated by a digital micromirror device (DMD).

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...
