ABSTRACT This paper develops a mathematical framework for interpreting observations of solar inertial waves in an idealized setting. Under the assumption of purely toroidal linear waves on the sphere, the stream function of the flow satisfies a fourth‐order scalar equation.

OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE OF ENDOREVERSIBLE CYCLES FOR ANOTHER LINEAR HEAT-TRANSFER LAW
Optimal performance of endoreversible cycles is studied systematically based on another linear heat transfer law (the heat-flux q is-proportional-to DELTA(1/T)) in irreversible thermodynamics instead of Newton's law.

ABSTRACT Because oligomers of the amyloid‐β$$ \beta $$ (Aβ$$ A\beta $$) protein can possibly be regarded as one main cause for progressive development of Alzheimer's disease, different mathematical models for its emergence have been proposed by different scientific groups.

ABSTRACT Purpose To demonstrate the synergy of undersampled radial 2in1‐RARE‐EPI acquisition and nonlinear model‐based reconstruction for accelerated and simultaneous T2, T2*, and R2′ mapping in brains of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). Methods 2in1‐RARE‐EPI combines a RARE module with an EPI module to capture T2 and T2* information.

On Relations Between Enhancing Theorems of the Methods of the Murase's Successive Approximations of a Cubic Equation and the Enhancing Theorems of the Newton's Method [PDF]

An Improved Air Film Model for Studying the Tilt Characteristics of Aerostatic Thrust Bearings
ABSTRACT In this study, an improved mass‐spring model that treats the lubricating air film as distributed springs is proposed to calculate the static and dynamic angular stiffness of aerostatic thrust bearings. The proposed model refines the traditional mass‐spring model by introducing the spatially varying mechanical properties of the air film and the

ABSTRACT In this study, a robust position control strategy is presented for a two‐stage electro‐hydraulic actuator system using a fractional‐order proportional–integral–derivative (FOPID) controller tuned by Kirchhoff's law algorithm (KLA). Electro‐hydraulic systems exhibit strong nonlinearities, parameter uncertainties, and external disturbances ...

WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE LAW OF UNIVERSAL GRAVITATION? What should this law actually look like?
The evolution of the law of universal gravitation is shown from the verbal formula proposed by Newton in 1687 to the present day. The law FN ∝ mM/r^2 discovered by Newton was not an exact law of gravitation.

ABSTRACT This study proposes a novel geometrically regularized gradient‐damage model for simulating dynamic mixed‐mode fracture in orthotropic materials with tension–compression asymmetry. In this model, a thermodynamic framework is formulated by incorporating damage dissipation into internal energy evolution, from which the constitutive relation and ...
