(m,n)-String and D1-Brane in Stringy Newton-Cartan Background

open access: yes, 2019
This paper is devoted to the analysis of (m,n)-string in stringy Newton-Cartan background. We start with the Hamiltonian constraint for (m,n)-string in general background and perform limiting procedure on metric and NSNS and Ramond-Ramond two form ...

3D‐Printed Hygroscopic Polymer Networks for High‐Humidity Triboelectric Nanogenerators to Wirelessly Power Implantable Electronic Devices‐ A Conceptual Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work develops 3D‐printable tribopolymer networks that can enhance triboelectric performance under high humidity environments. Polar hydrophilic functional groups and incorporation of zwitterionic monomers promote bound‐water–dominated interfacial polarization thereby increasing electrical outputs.

A geometric Newton method for Oja's vector field

open access: yes, 2008
Newton's method for solving the matrix equation $F(X)\equiv AX-XX^TAX=0$ runs up against the fact that its zeros are not isolated. This is due to a symmetry of $F$ by the action of the orthogonal group.

Understanding the Effects of Conductive Polymer Electrode Coating on Recorded Neural Signals

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Conductive polymer coatings are widely explored to improve the quality of signals recorded with chronically implanted neural electrodes, offering enhanced biocompatibility along with reduced electrode impedance. Combining computational modelling and data from PEDOT:PTS coated and PtIr electrodes in rats, we show that improvements in signal quality with

The experimental method in the seventeenth century

open access: yesArtefactos, 2016
We will address the experimental method in the seventeenth century, based on the scientific-experimental method of Galileo and Newton. We are interested in how Descartes and Leibniz especially collect the ideas of Galileo and Newton when building their ...

Goal oriented adaptivity in the IRGNM for parameter identification in PDEs II: all-at once formulations

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we investigate adaptive discretization of the iteratively regularized Gauss- Newton method IRGNM. All-at-once formulations considering the PDE and the measurement equation simultaneously allow to avoid (approximate) solution of a ...
