Multi‐Target‐Directed Ligands (MTDLs) as Potential Therapeutic Candidates Targeting Multiple Pathogenic Factor of Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 5, May 2026.
Multi‐target‐directed ligands (MTDLs) offer a promising strategy for Alzheimer's disease by simultaneously modulating amyloid‐β, tau pathology, neuroinflammation, and oxidative stress. This review highlights representative MTDL candidates and their therapeutic potential in addressing the multifactorial nature of AD.

Community Assembly Mechanism of Woody Plants at Different Successional Stages in Karst Areas Based on Functional Traits and Phylogeny

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
This study reveals a shift in woody plant community assembly from competitive exclusion in early succession to habitat filtering in later stages within karst areas. Environmental distance (80.54%) contributed significantly more than geographical distance (9.95%), providing strong quantitative evidence that niche processes, particularly habitat ...

The Evolving Therapeutic Landscape of Gallic Acid: A Review of Mechanistic Insights and Clinical Potential

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
ABSTRACT Gallic acid (GA), a plant‐derived phenolic compound, is evolving from a general antioxidant into a specific molecular modulator and a functional building block for advanced biomedical materials. This review synthesizes recent insights underpinned by GA's “redox duality”—its capacity to act as either a radical scavenger or a pro‐oxidant.

Alzheimer's disease and mixed pathologies as a hidden contributor to fatal hypothermia: A large‐scale forensic autopsy‐based study

open access: yesBrain Pathology, Volume 36, Issue 3, May 2026.
We investigated neuropathological manifestations of hypothermia in 168 cases. Patients aged 65 years or more constituted 80% of the total cohort. Alzheimer's disease was the most common comorbidity, affecting 40% of all patients. Abstract There is a paucity of autopsy‐based studies providing detailed neuropathological characteristics of fatal ...

Tau‐targeting active immunotherapy slows progression and reduces pathology in mouse models of tauopathy

open access: yesBrain Pathology, Volume 36, Issue 3, May 2026.
The efficacy of the novel anti‐tau active immunotherapy, p5555kb, was tested using two mouse models of tau pathology. p5555kb inoculation increased the survival rate and reduced tau pathology in tau‐overexpressing P301L mice and decreased tau seeding in the brains of C57BL/6 mice injected with human‐purified Alzheimer's disease tau.

14‐3‐3σ up‐regulation in the temporal cortex associates with tau pathology and reactive astroglia in Lewy body disorders

open access: yesBrain Pathology, Volume 36, Issue 3, May 2026.
14‐3‐3 protein homeostasis is disrupted in Lewy body pathology, showing a diminution of six isotypes and overexpression of stratifin. The latter was associated with stratifin colocalization with tau pathology and reactive astrocytes. Platelets, as a peripheral biomarker source, mirrored inversely cortical 14‐3‐3 gene expression patterns in dementia ...

Hemophilia Severity and Its Association With Mental Health and Health‐Related Quality of Life—Results From a Cross‐Sectional Multicenter Study

open access: yesHaemophilia, Volume 32, Issue 3, Page 748-759, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Limited existing research on mental health and health‐related quality of life (HRQoL) in people with hemophilia (PwH) suggests these patients still may have poor mental health despite treatment advances significantly improving somatic outcomes.
