ABSTRACT Piezocatalytic therapy (PCT) harnesses mechanical energy to generate tumor‐lethal reactive oxygen species (ROS), but its efficacy is limited by rapid electron‐hole recombination and poor intratumoral retention. To overcome these limitations, we engineered heterostructured BiOCl@CuO nanosheets embedded in an injectable, conductive ...

Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,

A Niche Width Model of Optimal Specialization
Computational & Mathematical Organization Theory, 2000Niche width theory, a part of organizational ecology, predicts whether “specialist” or “generalist” forms of organizations have higher “fitness,” in a continually changing environment. To this end, niche width theory uses a mathematical model borrowed from biology.

In defense of ‘niche modeling’
Trends in Ecology & Evolution, 2012There is a growing awareness of problems with the estimation of the ecological tolerances of species through correlative modeling approaches. These problems have led some investigators to argue for abandoning terms such as 'ecological niche model' and 'environmental niche model' in favor of the ostensibly more value-neutral 'species distribution model',

To predict the niche, model colonization and extinction
Ecology, 2015Ecologists frequently try to predict the future geographic distributions of species. Most studies assume that the current distribution of a species reflects its environmental requirements (i.e., the species' niche). However, the current distributions of many species are unlikely to be at equilibrium with the current distribution of environmental ...

Niching and elitist models for MOGAs
1998This paper examines several niching and elitist models applied to Multiple-Objective Genetic Algorithms (MOGAs). Test cases consider a simple problem as well as multidisciplinary design optimization of wing planform shape. Numerical results suggest that the combination of the fitness sharing and the best-N selection leads to the best performance.

Niche specification and competition modeling
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1969The concept of the ecological niche as an environmentally dimensioned hypervolume provides a theoretical method of niche description applicable to plants as well as animals. This paper proposes that the niche of a plant can be more fully specified by including plant responses to the environment as additional dimensions of the niche hypervolume.

Ecological niche models of invasive seaweeds
Journal of Phycology, 2015Ecological niche models (ENMs) are commonly used to calculate habitat suitability from species’ occurrence and macroecological data. In invasive species biology, ENMs can be applied to anticipate whether invasive species are likely to establish in an area, to identify critical routes and arrival points, to build risk maps and to predict the extent of ...
