Method of protecting a surface with a silicon-slurry/aluminide coating [PDF]
A low cost coating for protecting metallic base system substrates from high temperatures, high gas velocity oxidation, thermal fatigue and hot corrosion is described. The coating is particularly useful for protecting vanes and blades in aircraft and land

Fine Precipitates in Nickel Base Superalloys [PDF]
Presence of fine, secondary/tertiary precipitates in superalloys improves especially the creep-fatigue properties of these alloys. It is conveniently accepted that the fine precipitates form non-isothermally, for example, during cooling from an aging temperature or isothermally during a secondary, lower temperature aging.

Where Can Aluminum Go When Batteries Die?
Battery‐derived aluminum is transformed from contaminated waste into an alloying resource for high‐performance Fe‐based alloys. Through controlled Al content and processing, dual‐phase austenite/ferrite microstructures with TRIP‐like behavior are achieved.

A Novel Approach for ∆K Estimation in the Fatigue Threshold Region Based on ΔKth and Kmax,th
ABSTRACT A novel procedure, proposed by Kujawski and Vasudevan 1, has been evaluated as an alternative to the ASTM E647 standard for determining the ∆Kth and Kmax,th thresholds. This method relies solely on the actual propagation of cracks, which occurs only when both thresholds are satisfied simultaneously. For long cracks, a more efficient estimation

Soldering Si3N4 to Invar42 by a localized heating process
Abstract This study investigates the soldering process for joining silicon nitride (Si3N4), a commonly used ceramic, to Invar42, a low thermal expansion alloy. The focus lies on analyzing interfacial reactions and evaluating the bonding performance of the Si3N4—Invar42 joint.

Research on tool wear prediction based on Archard agglomeration scavenging theory
Nickel-based superalloy Inconel 718 has been widely used in the modern aviation field, however, its cutting performance is poor. This performance not only affects the effectiveness of the use of the tool but also reduces the efficiency of production.
