SERRATE Regulates Floral Meristem Activity by Antagonizing SHOOT MERISTEMLESS and Repressing Cytokinin Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Floral meristem (FM) activity is crucial for the initiation of floral organs. In this study, SE represses IPT7 expression and cytokinin signaling via both the miR171c‐5p–KNAT2 and miR164c–CUC1/2–KNAT2 regulatory modules, thereby repressing FM activity. In contrast, STM induces both KNAT2 and IPT7 expression.

Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of Nicotiana glauca and Nicotiana sylvestris.

open access: yesVavilovskii zhurnal genetiki i selektsii, 2022
Agrobacterium-mediated transformation is the most popular approach for obtaining transgenic plants nowadays. There are plenty of protocols developed for different plant species. These protocols usually include the medium composition, the technology for preparing plant explants and cultivation conditions, as well as the choice of agrobacteria strains ...

Transposase‐Assisted Donor Tethering Boosts Large‐Fragment HDR in Plants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A transposase‐assisted donor tethering strategy is developed to enhance homology‐directed repair in plants. By recruiting donor DNA to double‐strand breaks and synergizing with repair pathway reprogramming and transcription‐coupled donor design, this system markedly improves large‐fragment targeted insertion efficiency, providing a robust platform for ...

PlantGFM: A Genomic Foundation Model for Discovery and Creation of Plant Genes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A plant genomic foundation model pre‐trained on 12 species enables both accurate gene prediction and de novo gene design. Through AI‐human knowledge screening, seven designed sequences showed transcriptional activity in plants, with two expressing stable proteins—demonstrating the first DNA‐RNA‐protein expression of LLM‐generated genes in plants and ...

Reconstitution of the Costunolide Biosynthetic Pathway in Yeast and Nicotiana benthamiana.

open access: yes, 2011
The sesquiterpene costunolide has a broad range of biological activities and is the parent compound for many other biologically active sesquiterpenes such as parthenolide.

Polymorphism and structure of style–specific arabinogalactan proteins as determinants of pollen tube growth in Nicotiana

open access: yesBMC Evolutionary Biology, 2017
Background Pollen tube growth and fertilization are key processes in angiosperm sexual reproduction. The transmitting tract (TT) of Nicotiana tabacum controls pollen tube growth in part by secreting pistil extensin-like protein III (PELPIII ...

Histone Modification Complex JMJ704‐HDA709 Negatively Regulates Salinity Tolerance in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the rice histone demethylase JMJ704 interacts with HDA709―a H3K9ac deacetylase characterized herein―to form a chromatin‐modifying complex. Under salt stress, OsWRKY72 recruits this complex through interaction with JMJ704 to target loci, repressing the expression of oxidative stress and salt‐responsive genes via removal of ...

Agroinfiltration of Cauliflower mosaic virus Gene VI Elicits Hypersensitive Response in Nicotiana Species

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2000
Cauliflower mosaic virus strain W260 induces hypersensitive response (HR) in Nicotiana edwardsonii and systemic cell death in N. clevelandii. In contrast, the D4 strain of Cauliflower mosaic virus evades the host defenses in Nicotiana species; it induces

The immunocytochemical localization of transgenically-expressed proteins in plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
A range of tissue preparation and immunocytochemical localization techniques were assessed for their possible application in the study of the transgenic expression of the legA gene, encoding Pisum sativum legumin in transformed Nicotiana plumbagimfolia ...
