Reflectance spectroscopy predicts leaf functional traits across wine grape cultivars

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Characterizing variability in crop traits is key for understanding agroecosystem responses to environmental change. However, trait data are often time‐consuming to collect and therefore still limit our understanding and predictions of agriculture responses to environmental change.

TRANSFER OF ARGOS-LIKE AND ATEXPA10 GENES INTO NONTRANSGENIC FORMS OF TOBACCO AND PHENOTYPIC EFFECTS OF THEIR CONSTITUTIVE EXPRESSION

open access: yesВавиловский журнал генетики и селекции, 2014
Hybrid plants were obtained by pollination of Nicotiana rustica and Nicotiana tabacum Black Cuban cultivar with pollen of transgenic Nicotiana tabacum plants of Petit Havana SR1 cultivar bearing the ARGOS-LIKE and AtEXPA10 genes.

Several regulations in gravity table in quality of tobacco seeds Diferentes regulagens da mesa densimétrica na qualidade de sementes de tabaco

open access: yesEngenharia Agrícola, 2012
The use of gravity table can result in improved quality of seeds of several species, demonstrating the superiority of the quality attributes of seeds collected in the top positions in relation to the lower positions of the discharge zone of the gravity ...

Affinity chromatography of Nicotiana tabacum ribonucleases

open access: yesPhytochemistry, 1974
Abstract The purification of tobacco ribonuclease by affinity chromatography is described. 5′-(4-amino-phenylphosphoryl)-guanosine 2′, (3′) phosphate, a ribonuelease inhibitor, has been synthesized and insolubilized onto agarose beads. The resulting adsorbent binds tobacco and some other plant ribonucleases strongly but reversibly at pH 5.4.

Harnessing entomopathogenic fungi: A meta‐analysis on their role as plant growth promoters

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Our meta‐analysis highlights the potential of entomopathogenic fungi (EPF) as sustainable alternatives to chemical pesticides and fertilisers. By promoting plant growth and reducing reliance on agrochemicals, EPF can support healthier crops, minimise environmental contamination and improve profitability within food production systems.

Optimized Agroinfiltration and Virus-Induced Gene Silencing to Study Ve1-Mediated Verticillium Resistance in Tobacco

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2013
Recognition of pathogen effectors by plant immune receptors often leads to the activation of a hypersensitive response (HR), which is a rapid and localized cell death of plant tissue surrounding the site at which recognition occurs. Due to its particular

Analysis of the possible cytogenetic mechanism for overcoming hybrid lethality in an interspecific cross between Nicotiana suaveolens and Nicotiana tabacum

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Hybrid lethality is a type of reproductive isolation in which hybrids die before maturation, due to the interaction between the two causative genes derived from each of the hybrid parents.

Deep learning‐based laser weed control compared to conventional herbicide application across three vegetable production systems

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
In 2024, trials in New Jersey and New York evaluated the effectiveness of laser weeding with a Carbon Robotics unit compared with herbicides on beets, spinach, and peas. Results demonstrated that laser weeding was as effective or superior to herbicides in controlling weeds, reducing biomass by ≥97% and boosting crop growth by ≥30%.
