Effect of Injection on Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide-levels

Nature, 1963
DURING an investigation of the possible in vivo effect of redox dyes on the distribution of oxidized and reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotides (NAD+ and NADH), it was noted that the ratios and/or levels of these co-enzymes can be altered by injection of distilled water alone.

Automated assay for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+)†‡

Journal of Applied Toxicology, 2001
Sulfur mustard (HD), a vesicating chemical warfare compound, has been shown to deplete the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) content in several cell systems and tissues. This NAD+ depletion has been proposed as an indicator of HD exposure and can be used to evaluate potential antivesicant compounds.

Nicotinamide-adenine dinucleotide pyrophosphatase of Cambaroides japonica

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Enzymology, 1969
Abstract 1. 1.The cleavage of NAD in crayfish hepatopancreas is catalyzed chiefly by a pyrophosphatase rather than by NAD glycohydrolase (EC 3.2.2.5). This fact was confirmed by the loss in the coenzyme function of NAD for yeast alcohol dehydrogenase without a significant concomitant loss in reactivity towards cyanide and the identification of ...

Oxidation of reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide by melanin

Life Sciences, 1967
Abstract Reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide is rapidly oxidized in the presence of melanin. One atom of oxygen is consumed per mole of coenzyme oxidized. The reduced melanin is subsequently autoxidized producing melanin and H2O2. The stable free radical property of melanins may serve a metabolic function in the melanocyte.
