Plastid Engineering for Photosynthesis‐Driven Synthesis of Hyaluronic Acid in Tobacco

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a glycosaminoglycan composed of alternating units of N‐acetylglucosamine and glucuronic acid. High moisture retention, viscoelasticity and biocompatibility are unique features that make HA polymers attractive compounds for medical applications and aesthetic purposes.

Cholinergic Responses of Schistosoma mansoni [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
It is concluded that the use of pharmacological agents can provide opportunities to recognize and define similarities and differences in the mechanisms of transmission of nerve impulses in the parasite and the mammalian host.

Geographic provenance and environmental growing conditions as factors influencing phytochemical composition of Arabica green coffee beans

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Growth environment strongly influences green coffee bean biochemistry, linking phytochemical composition to adaptation under abiotic stress. Abstract This study explores how bioactive compounds in green coffee beans (Coffea arabica L.) vary across different geographic regions, addressing the key question of how environmental factors shape coffee ...

Preparation, Proximate Composition and Culinary Properties of Yellow Alkaline Noodles from Wheat and Raw/Pregelatinized Gadung (Dioscorea Hispida Dennst) Composite Flours [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The steady increase of wheat flour price and noodle consumptions has driven researchers to find substitutes for wheat flour in the noodle making process. In this work, yellow alkaline noodles were prepared from composite flours comprising wheat and raw/

Practical Applications of Secondary/Extractive Electrospray Ionization (SESI): A Versatile Tool for Real‐Time Chemical Analysis

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, Volume 45, Issue 2, Page 392-428, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT In the 1980s, researchers discovered the remarkable ability of electrospray plumes to effectively ionize gas‐phase molecules via secondary ionization. Around 20 years later—coinciding with the ambient mass spectrometry revolution—secondary electrospray ionization (SESI) and extractive electrospray ionization (EESI) coupled to mass spectrometry

Aryldiazonium salts as photoaffinity labels of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor PCP binding site

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1985
Several aryldiazonium salts are described as irreversible blockers of the phencyclidine binding site of the nicotinic cholinergic receptor. A partial hydrophobic character increases the affinity of these salts for the phencyclidine binding site. Photoaffinity labelling with a tritiated diazonium salt in the presence of either carbamylcholine or α ...

At‐Home Early Diagnosis of Mastitis: Calibration‐Free Analysis of Sodium to Potassium Ratio in Breast Milk

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 10, 2 February 2026.
MAMAWEL is introduced as the first calibration‐free potentiometric sensor for at‐home mastitis diagnosis. By measuring the sodium‐to‐potassium ratio in breast milk, the device reliably differentiates between healthy and mastitis‐affected samples with less than 10% error.

Colour, health and wellbeing: the hidden qualities and properties of natural dyes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper addresses the questions: Is it feasible that the chemicals present in the natural dyes of both plants and insects which in the past, man has exploited for their colour, could exhibit other properties?
