This study identifies that Ach levels are elevated in eCRSwNP and primarily released from SCCs rather than neurons. Ach induces epithelial remodeling in eCRSwNP by binding to M1R/M3R and activating YAP signaling in basal cells, driving basal cell hyperplasia and abnormal differentiation. Blocking M1R/M3R with TB inhibits eCRSwNP progression.

LOUIS HENRI FREDERIC MELSENS Nicotine, potassium iodide, and sulfur compounds
Louis Henri Frédéric Melsens (1814-1886) was a Belgian chemist, student of Dumas and Liebig, who showed the possibility of chlorinating an organic compound by hydrogen substitution; separated nicotine, determined its formula, and proved it was a powerful

Protracted treatment with MDMA induces heteromeric nicotinic receptor up-regulation in rat brain: an autoradiography study. [PDF]
Previous studies indicate that 3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA, ecstasy) can induce heteromeric nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR, mainly of α4β2 subtype) up-regulation.

ABSTRACT Intensive broiler production may lead to perturbations of gut function and health. The maintenance of intestinal homeostasis in broilers through the use of dietary phytogenic components such as isoquinoline alkaloids (IQs) is an emerging topic of scientific investigations.

The pH Dependent Interaction between Nicotine and Simulated Pulmonary Surfactant Monolayers with Associated Molecular Modelling [PDF]
Pulmonary surfactant is an endogenous material that lines and stabilises the alveolar air-liquid interface. Respiratory mechanics can be compromised by exposure to environmental toxins such as cigarette vapour, which contains nicotine. This study aims to

Spontaneous neuronal network activity is critical for circuit maturation, yet whether this is a feature of enteric nervous system development has yet to be established. Here, we identify clustered ripples, a previously undescribed form of neurogenic gastrointestinal motility that shares many features with spontaneous neuronal networks in other systems.

An enzymatic approach reverses nicotine dependence, decreases compulsive-like intake, and prevents relapse. [PDF]
Tobacco use disorder is the leading cause of disease and preventable death worldwide, but current medications that are based on pharmacodynamics have low efficacy.

Growth environment strongly influences green coffee bean biochemistry, linking phytochemical composition to adaptation under abiotic stress. Abstract This study explores how bioactive compounds in green coffee beans (Coffea arabica L.) vary across different geographic regions, addressing the key question of how environmental factors shape coffee ...
