Allele-informed QTL-seq identifies Hd18 as a minor modifier of heading date in elite rice cultivars. [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Genome
Abstract Fine‐tuning heading date is critical for optimizing yield, grain quality, and local adaptation in rice (Oryza sativa L.). QTL‐seq (where QTL is quantitative trait locus), which integrates bulked segregant analysis with whole‐genome resequencing, provides a rapid and cost‐effective approach for identifying QTLs underlying complex traits ...

Diphtheria Vaccination Coverage and Correlation With Multidimensional Poverty Among Children in Nigeria. [PDF]

open access: yesPublic Health Chall
Diphtheria vaccination coverage among Nigerian children remains suboptimal (56%). Coverage is significantly lower in Northern states and inversely correlated with multidimensional poverty. Addressing poverty‐related deprivations is essential to improving immunization equity and curbing recurrent diphtheria outbreaks.

Phenyl-cyclopentadienyl rule

open access: yesMacedonian Journal of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, 2012
Within a systematic study of cyclic conjugation in the benzo-annelated derivatives of acenaphthylene and fluoranthene, a general regularity was discovered, named phenyl-cyclopentadienyl rule (PCP rule).

Distribution of Non-Indigenous Crayfish Species in Estonia and Their Impacts on Noble Crayfish (Astacus astacus L.) Populations

open access: yesDiversity, 2023
Invasive non-indigenous crayfish species (NICS) are a major threat to the existence of native crayfish populations in European freshwater ecosystems. The discovery of signal crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus, marbled crayfish Procambarus virginalis, and ...

NIC-planar graphs

open access: yesDiscrete Applied Mathematics, 2017
A graph is NIC-planar if it admits a drawing in the plane with at most one crossing per edge and such that two pairs of crossing edges share at most one common end vertex. NIC-planarity generalizes IC-planarity, which allows a vertex to be incident to at most one crossing edge, and specializes 1-planarity, which only requires at most one crossing per ...

Cadmium Concentration in Grains of Japanese Wheat Cultivars : Genotypic Difference and Relationship with Agronomic Characteristics

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2008
The contamination of cadmium (Cd) into the food chain can be harmful because Cd causes chronic health problems. To evaluate the breeding potential reducing the Cd concentration in wheat grain, we compared Cd concentrations in 237 wheat genotypes ...

Fine Particulate Matter Concentration and Early Deaths Related to Thermal Power Plants and National Industrial Complexes in South Korea

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2023
Thermal power plants (TPPs) and national industrial complexes (NICs) are widely known as being among the major causes of changes in the concentrations of fine particulate matter (PM2.5).

Monitoring Redox Pathways and Performance Limitations in Lithium‐Sulfur Batteries Using In Situ 7/6Li and 33S NMR Spectroscopies

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Lithium‐sulfur (Li‐S) batteries contain various NMR‐active nuclear isotopes, including 7Li, 6Li and 33S, which are sensitive to the different chemical reactions that occur during battery cycling. Herein, we use a combination of lithium and sulfur operando NMR spectroscopy to provide new insights at the molecular level, fundamental understanding being ...
