Characterization and analysis of nifH genes from Paenibacillus sabinae T27
Paenibacillus sabinae T27 (CCBAU 10202=DSM 17841) is a gram-positive, spore-forming diazotroph with high nitrogenase activities. Three nifH clusters were cloned from P. sabinae T27. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that NifH1, NifH2 and NifH3 cluster with Cyanobacterium. Each of the coding regions of nifH1, nifH2 and nifH3 from P.

Mutations affecting regulation of the Klebsiella pneumoniae nifH (nitrogenase reductase) promotor [PDF]
Starting with plasmid pSA30 which contains an intact nifHDKY operon, we selected mutants that no longer inhibited nitrogen fixation in Klebsiella pneumoniae. Three categories of mutants were found among eight mutant plasmids examined in detail. Three mutant plasmids carried a single-base-pair (bp) change at position -12 or -14 relative to the nifH ...

nifH gene expression and diversity in geothermal springs of Tengchong, China
Terrestrial hot springs have been suggested to harbor diverse diazotrophic lineages by using DNA-based nifH gene phylogenetic analysis. However, only a small amount of diazotrophs were ever confirmed to perform nitrogen fixation. In order to explore the compositions of active diazotrophic populations in hot springs, the in situ expression and diversity

Global biogeography of N2-fixing microbes: nifH amplicon database and analytics workflow [PDF]
Marine dinitrogen (N2) fixation is a globally significant biogeochemical process carried out by a specialized group of prokaryotes (diazotrophs), yet our understanding of their ecology is constantly evolving. Although marine N2 fixation is often ascribed

Harnessing synthetic microbial communities with nitrogen-fixing activity to promote rice growth
Improving the biological nitrogen fixation of rhizosphere bacteria in rice is expected to improve plant growth and productivity. Most studies have focused on the application of a single N2-fixing bacterium on rice plants.

Diagnosis and Management of Prenatal Hereditary Pyropoikilocytosis
ABSTRACT Hereditary pyropoikilocytosis (HPP) is a severe hemolytic anemia caused by variants in SPTA1, SPTB, and EPB41. These weaken horizontal interactions in the erythrocyte cytoskeleton, causing membrane fragmentation and splenic sequestration. It will readily cause fetal anemia and often hydrops fetalis. Prenatal diagnosis requires first ruling out

Dark N2 fixation: nifH expression in the redoxcline of the Black Sea
Fixed nitrogen is a limiting nutrient in many marine environments. Only a subset of the microbial community has the ability to fix dinitrogen gas (N2). Here, we document the transcription of nitrogenase reductase subunit nifH in N2-fixing bacteria in the

Network analysis of functional genes among prokaryotes, and eukaryotes in natural and artificial rivers. Abstract Periphyton in aquatic ecosystems plays vital roles in the elemental cycle process and is vulnerable to anthropogenic interference. However, few studies have explored the elemental cycles of carbon (C), nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and ...
