In Rhizobium Japonicum the Nifh and Nifdk Genes are Separated

1984
We have shown previously that a cloned HindIII restriction fragment from Rhizobium japonicum 3I1b 110 contains the nitrogenase structural genes nifD and nifK (Fig. 1). However, we have not obtained evidence for the existence of the gene for nitrogenase reductase (nifH) adjacent to th nifDK cluster.

Molecular ecology of nifH genes and transcripts in the eastern Mediterranean Sea

Environmental Microbiology, 2007
Summary The eastern Mediterranean Sea is one of the most extreme oligotrophic oceanic regions on earth in terms of nutrient concentrations and primary productivity. Nitrogen fixation has been suggested to contribute to the high N : P molar ratios of ∼28:1 found in this region. Surprisingly, no molecular biological

Paenibacillus wenxiniae sp. nov., a nifH gene -harbouring endophytic bacterium isolated from maize

Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 2015
A novel Gram-positive, aerobic, motile, endospore-forming, rod-shaped bacterium, designated 373(T) was isolated from surface-sterilised root tissue of a maize planted in Fangshan District of Beijing, Peopole's Republic of China. A polyphasic taxonomic study was performed on the new isolate.

Molecular Diversity of nifH Genes from Bacteria Associated with High Arctic Dwarf Shrubs

Microbial Ecology, 2006
Biological nitrogen fixation is the primary source of new N in terrestrial arctic ecosystems and is fundamental to the long-term productivity of arctic plant communities. Still, relatively little is known about the nitrogen-fixing microbes that inhabit the soils of many dominant vegetation types.

Toxic effects of acetochlor, methamidophos and their combination on nifH gene in soil

Journal of Environmental Sciences, 2007
Toxic effects of two agrochemicals on nifH gene in agricultural black soil were investigated using denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) and sequencing approaches in a microcosm experiment. Changes of soil nifH gene diversity and composition were examined following the application of acetochlor, methamidophos and their combination.

Molecular phylogeny, population genetics, and evolution of heterocystous cyanobacteria using nifH gene sequences

Protoplasma, 2012
In order to assess phylogeny, population genetics, and approximation of future course of cyanobacterial evolution based on nifH gene sequences, 41 heterocystous cyanobacterial strains collected from all over India have been used in the present study. NifH gene sequence analysis data confirm that the heterocystous cyanobacteria are monophyletic while ...

Diversity of Frankia in soil assessed by Illumina sequencing of nifH gene fragments

Systematic and Applied Microbiology, 2016
Targeted Illumina sequencing of nitrogenase reductase (nifH) gene fragments and analyses of pair-end reads through a modified QIIME pipeline were used to assess the diversity of the actinomyceteous genus Frankia in three soils. Soils were vegetated with host or non-host plants, and included locations in Illinois (ABA, host), Colorado (CoMt, non-host ...

The Klebsiella pneumoniae nitrogenase Fe protein gene (nifH) functionally substitutes for the chlL gene in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2005
The entire coding region of chlL, an essential chloroplast gene required for chlorophyll biosynthesis in the dark in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, was precisely replaced by either the Klebsiella pneumoniae nifH (encoding the structural component of nitrogenase Fe protein) or the Escherichia coli uidA reporter gene encoding beta-glucuronidase.

[Study of nucleotide sequences of nifH genes in methanotrophic bacteria].

Mikrobiologiia, 2002
Using a previously developed primer system, nifH gene fragments 450 nucleotides long were amplified, cloned, and sequenced for representatives of nitrogen-fixing methanotrophic bacteria of the genera Methylococcus, Methylocystis and Methylosinus. Fragments of nifH genes were also detected and sequenced in representatives of the genera Methylomonas and ...

Two seasons’ study on nifH gene expression and nitrogen fixation by diazotrophic endophytes in sugarcane (Saccharum spp. hybrids): expression of nifH genes similar to those of rhizobia

Plant and Soil, 2010
To explore the presence and expression of the nifH gene of diazotrophic endophytes in sugarcane (Saccharum spp. hybrids) cv. NiF8, we conducted pot experiments for two seasons in a glasshouse from 10 June to 17 September (high temperature and long days) in 2005 and 1 September to 9 December (low temperature and short days) in 2006.
