Toxic effects of acetochlor, methamidophos and their combination on nifH gene in soil
Journal of Environmental Sciences, 2007Toxic effects of two agrochemicals on nifH gene in agricultural black soil were investigated using denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) and sequencing approaches in a microcosm experiment. Changes of soil nifH gene diversity and composition were examined following the application of acetochlor, methamidophos and their combination.

The entire coding region of chlL, an essential chloroplast gene required for chlorophyll biosynthesis in the dark in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, was precisely replaced by either the Klebsiella pneumoniae nifH (encoding the structural component of nitrogenase Fe protein) or the Escherichia coli uidA reporter gene encoding beta-glucuronidase.

[Study of nucleotide sequences of nifH genes in methanotrophic bacteria].
Mikrobiologiia, 2002Using a previously developed primer system, nifH gene fragments 450 nucleotides long were amplified, cloned, and sequenced for representatives of nitrogen-fixing methanotrophic bacteria of the genera Methylococcus, Methylocystis and Methylosinus. Fragments of nifH genes were also detected and sequenced in representatives of the genera Methylomonas and ...

Organization of nifH and nifD genes in Nostoc commune UTEX 584
2021Nostoc commune UTEX 584 is a photosynthetic desiccation-tolerant cyanobacterium capable of fixing nitrogen. Biotinylated nifH and nifD gene probes from Azotobacter vinelandii (a gift from Dr. Dennis Dean) hybridized to nifH and nifD sequences isolated from Nostoc commune UTEX 584.

The annually reoccurring blooms that characterize the surface waters of the Baltic Sea are dominated by filamentous, heterocystous cyanobacteria such as Nodularia spumigena. In a previous study, we have demonstrated that N. spumigena strain AV1 differentiates heterocysts in the absence of detectable nitrogen fixation activity, an unusual physiological ...
