Effects of a saponin fraction extracted from Trigonella foenum-graecum L. and two commercially available saponins on sex ratio and gonad histology of Nile tilapa fry, Oreochromis niloticus (L.) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Over three million tonnes (t) of tilapia, mostly Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus, L.), are produced annually making it the second most abundantly produced freshwater fish (FAO, 2010).

Dietary four different woody forages differentially affect the growth, feed utilization, apparent digestibility, intestinal morphology and microbiota composition in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)

open access: yesAquaculture Reports, 2021
Woody forage as potential aquatic feed ingredient has a positive effect on tilapia survival and feed utilization. To study the effect of woody forages on the growth, feed utilization, apparent digestibility, intestinal morphology and microbiota ...

Quillen's Theorem A and the Whitehead theorem for bicategories [PDF]

open access: yesChapter 7 of "2-Dimensional Categories" (Oxford University Press, 2021), 2019
We prove a bicategorical analogue of Quillen's Theorem A. As an application, we deduce the well-known result that a pseudofunctor is a biequivalence if and only if it is essentially surjective on objects, essentially full on 1-cells, and fully faithful on 2-cells.

Preference index supported by motivation tests in Nile tilapia

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2017
The identification of animal preferences is assumed to provide better rearing environments for the animals in question. Preference tests focus on the frequency of approaches or the time an animal spends in proximity to each item of the investigated resource during a multiple-choice trial.

Sex determination and genetic management in Nile tilapia using genomic techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The PhD research studied two aspects in tilapia, firstly the analysis of sex determination in Nile tilapia (evidence of complex sex-determining systems) and secondly the genetic management of the tilapia species, using different genomic analysis ...

Review of SEAFDEC/AQD fish nutrition and feed development research [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Research on fish nutrition and feed development at SEAFDEC Aquaculture Department has focused on three major areas: nutrient requirements and their interrelationships, digestive enzymes and digestibility, and practical feed development for important ...

Apparent digestibility coefficient of chitosan foam for nile tilapia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Chitosan foam can be used as a filter element for pollutants in Nile tilapia farming tanks to reduce the industrial chitin waste and value it. Another possibility is the inclusion of chitosan foam in fish feed.

On the Nile Problem by Sir Ronald Fisher [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
The Nile problem by Ronald Fisher may be interpreted as the problem of making statistical inference for a special curved exponential family when the minimal sufficient statistic is incomplete. The problem itself and its versions for general curved exponential families pose a mathematical-statistical challenge: studying the subalgebras of ancillary ...

The Future of Pathogen Detection in Aquaculture: Miniature Labs, Field‐Compatible Assays, environmental DNA and RNA, CRISPR and Metatranscriptomics

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 5, Issue 3, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Inland recirculating aquaculture is a thriving food industry providing sustainable and locally sourced high‐quality protein. However, its expansion is accompanied by emerging challenges regarding the spread of pathogens and diseases. Detection and management of pathogens in aquaculture remain underdeveloped compared to other animal farming ...
