Partial Least Squares Regression for Binary Responses and Its Associated Biplot Representation

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
In this paper, we propose a generalization of Partial Least Squares Regression (PLS-R) for a matrix of several binary responses and a a set of numerical predictors. We call the method Partial Least Squares Binary Logistic Regression (PLS-BLR).

Parallel GPU Implementation of Iterative PCA Algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Principal component analysis (PCA) is a key statistical technique for multivariate data analysis. For large data sets the common approach to PCA computation is based on the standard NIPALS-PCA algorithm, which unfortunately suffers from loss of ...

Gated Recurrent Unit Coupled with Projection to Model Plane Imputation for the PM2.5 Prediction for Guangzhou City, China

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2022
Air pollution is generating serious health issues as well as threats to our natural ecosystem. Accurate prediction of PM2.5 can help taking preventive measures for reducing air pollution. The periodic pattern of PM2.5 can be modeled with recurrent neural

The Degrees of Freedom of Partial Least Squares Regression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The derivation of statistical properties for Partial Least Squares regression can be a challenging task. The reason is that the construction of latent components from the predictor variables also depends on the response variable.

Re‐interpretation of NIPALS results solves PLSR inconsistency problem [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Chemometrics, 2008
AbstractThe well‐known nonlinear iterative partial least squares (NIPALS) algorithm is commonly used for computation of components in partial least squares regression (PLSR) with orthogonalized score vectors. Based on generalized inverse formalism, Pell et al.[1] have recently claimed that the NIPALS results are inconsistent with respect to model ...

Regularized Partial Least Squares with an Application to NMR Spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
High-dimensional data common in genomics, proteomics, and chemometrics often contains complicated correlation structures. Recently, partial least squares (PLS) and Sparse PLS methods have gained attention in these areas as dimension reduction techniques ...

Boron deficiency responses in maize (Zea mays L.) roots

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Background Boron (B) is an essential micronutrient for plants. Dicot plants respond to insufficient B supply by altering root architecture and root hair growth. How root systems of rather low‐B demanding monocot species such as maize (Zea mays L.) respond to B deficiency in terra has not been experimentally resolved, yet.
