Laser welding of NiTi shape memory alloy
PICALO 2008: 3rd Pacific International Conference on Laser Materials Processing, Micro, Nano and Ultrafast Fabrication, 2008With high energy YAG Laser beam method, the weld ability of the NiTi shape memory alloy sheet was studied. The mechanical properties of both reference and laser welded samples were tested by stress–strain measurements. A systematic comparison of the results was carried out.

Engineering applications of NiTi shape memory alloys
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2008Abstract This paper considers the use of martensitic NiTi shape memory alloys (SMAs) for technical applications in drive technology with a focus on bearing and gear technology. Within bearing technology, SMAs can be applied for the clearance adjustment of taper roller bearings using the extrinsic two-way effect.

Fracture of precipitated NiTi shape memory alloys
International Journal of Fracture, 2001The fracture mechanisms in single crystal and polycrystalline Ti-50.8at%Ni shape memory alloys containing Ti3Ni4 precipitates are studied using the scanning electron microscope (SEM). Aged materials with three different precipitate sizes (50 nm, 150 nm, and 400 nm), which have interfaces ranging from semi-coherent to incoherent, are considered.

On the Shock Response of the Shape Memory Alloy, NiTi
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2002There has been recent interest in the behaviour of the shape‐memory alloy NiTi since it undergoes a stress‐induced phase change at a low stress value. It has been additionally noted that the NiTi does not appear to exhibit a Hugoniot elastic limit (HEL) in the way normally associated with other metals.

Progress in the understanding of NiTi shape memory alloys
Transactions of the Indian Institute of Metals, 2008Shape memory alloys (SMAs) are a special class of metallic materials which respond with a considerable change in their properties to small changes in temperature or stress. The SMAs offer two interesting characteristics, viz., shape memory effect (SME) and superelasticity (SE), also called pseudoelasticity which make them attractive for applications in
