Thermal proteome profiling and proteome analysis using high‐definition mass spectrometry demonstrate modulation of cholesterol biosynthesis by next‐generation galeterone analog VNPP433‐3β in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′

Determination of the [15N]-Nitrate/[14N]-Nitrate Ratio in Plant Feeding Studies by GC–MS

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Feeding experiments with stable isotopes are helpful tools for investigation of metabolic fluxes and biochemical pathways. For assessing nitrogen metabolism, the heavier nitrogen isotope, [15N], has been frequently used.

Insights into Nitrate Reduction over Indium-Decorated Palladium Nanoparticle Catalysts

open access: yes, 2018
Nitrate (NO3−) is an ubiquitous groundwater contaminant and is detrimental to human health. Bimetallic palladium-based catalysts have been found to be promising for treating nitrate (and nitrite, NO2−) contaminated waters.

Nitrate and Nitrite in Health and Disease

open access: yesAging and Disease, 2018
The source of dietary nitrate (NO3) is mainly green, leafy vegetables, partially absorbed into blood through intestinal mucosa. The recycled nitrate is reabsorbed and concentrated by the salivary glands and then secreted into saliva.

Exploration of heterogeneity and recurrence signatures in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study leveraged public datasets and integrative bioinformatic analysis to dissect malignant cell heterogeneity between relapsed and primary HCC, focusing on intercellular communication, differentiation status, metabolic activity, and transcriptomic profiles.

Magnetic Isotope Effect in the Uranium Isotopes Separation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
When uranyl nitrate is photolysed in the water solution, light isotope ${}^{235}{\rm U}$ is separated from isotope ${}^{238}{\rm U}$ ; an enrichment factor $K = 1.04$ . The initial samples were depleted by a light isotope of uranium ${}^{235}{\rm U}$ (degree $\beta = 0.00455$). Regenerated uranyl nitrate was enriched by an isotope of uranium ${}^{235}{\

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

Expression and purification of E140 protein antigen fragments of Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium berghei for serological assays

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We provide a step‐by‐step guide for producing E140 antigen fragments from Plasmodium berghei (Pb1) and Plasmodium vivax (Pv1). Pb1/Pv1 are expressed in E. coli, solubilized by freeze–thawing, refolded by slow dilution, purified by affinity chromatography (IMAC), then concentrated and subjected to quality control.

Does a glycine sodium nitrite crystal exist? [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
The glycine sodium nitrite crystal reported by Khandpekar and Pati in the paper entitled, Synthesis and characterisation of glycine sodium nitrite crystals having non linear optical behaviour, Opt Commun 285, 2012 288-293 is actually gamma-glycine. In addition, we show that glycine barium ammonium nitrate, glycine sodium zinc sulfate, glycine barium ...
