Co‐overexpression of the caloric restriction‐induced mitochondrial factors PGC‐1α and MIPEP upregulates Phospho1 expression in adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caloric restriction that extends lifespan induces the expression of PGC‐1α and MIPEP in white adipose tissue. In this study, co‐overexpression of Pgc‐1α and Mipep upregulated the gene expression of PHOSPHO1. These findings provide new insights into mitochondria‐related mechanisms underlying the effects of caloric restriction in adipocytes.

Polydatin ameliorates ovalbumin‐induced asthma in a rat model through NCOA4‐mediated ferroautophagy and ferroptosis pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this research, a rat model of asthma was created using OVA, and polydatin served as an intervention. By inhibiting ferroautophagy mediated by NCOA4 and averting ferroptosis, polydatin has been demonstrated to reduce asthma. This work presents new ideas for investigating the mechanism of polydatin's ability to alleviate asthma, in addition to ...

Possible Detection of Nitrates on Mars by the Sample Analysis at Mars (SAM) Instrument [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Planetary models suggest that nitrogen was abundant in the early Martian atmosphere as dinitrogen (N2). However, it has been lost by sputtering and photochemical loss to space [1, 2], impact erosion [3], and chemical oxidation to nitrates [4].

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

Forskolin Enhances Urokinase Plasminogen Activator Secretion and Angiogenic Activity of Xeno‐Free Cultures of Human Adipose Tissue‐Derived Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The regenerative potential of adipose tissue‐derived stem cells can be enhanced through chemical stimulation in vitro. A short stimulation protocol using forskolin, either alone or in combination with other growth factors, under xeno‐free conditions enhanced the pro‐angiogenic responses in human ASCs.

Estimating the Self-depuration Capacity of a Reach of the Luján River [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A 3-km reach of the Luján River was studied by establishing 6 sampling stations, which were from 300 to 500 m apart. The first station was the control reading for river nutrients and particulate material.

LIN28B Promotes Cancer Cell Dissemination and Angiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Children diagnosed with high‐risk neuroblastoma have a 5‐year event‐free survival rate of less than 50% and poor outcomes after recurrence. Deregulation of the LIN28B oncogene can be addressed in these patients. Upregulation of LIN28B is shown to support the metastatic cascade.

Antarctic polar stratospheric aerosols: The roles of nitrates, chlorides and sulfates [PDF]

open access: yes
Nitric and hydrochloric acids have been postulated to condense in the winter polar stratosphere to become an important component of polar stratospheric clouds.

Gearing of nitrate ions in ammonium nitrate

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics
Reorienting polyatomic ions such as NH4+ and NO3− exhibit weak magnetic fields because the ions at the extremities trace out current loops; if the periodic reorientations become long-range ordered (i.e., gearing of neighboring NO3−), then the magnetic susceptibility should exhibit a unique signature along the different crystallographic axes.
