Analyzing the Catalytic Role of Active Site Residues in the Fe-type Nitrile Hydratase from \u3cem\u3eComamonas testosteroni\u3c/em\u3e Ni1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A strictly conserved active site arginine residue (αR157) and two histidine residues (αH80 and αH81) located near the active site of the Fe-type nitrile hydratase from Comamonas testosteroni Ni1 (CtNHase), were mutated. These mutant enzymes were examined

Optimization of Adsorption Sites for Selective Hydrobenzoin and Syngas Production in a Single Photoredox Cycle

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Efficient C─C coupling hydrobenzoin production and tunable syngas generation via benzyl alcohol oxidation and CO2 reduction is realized by Ni2P/CdS composite in a single photoredox cycle. In situ and ex situ characterizations, along with theoretical calculations, reveal that the active site optimization facilitates intermediate formation and desorption.

Weakly Solvating Electrolytes for Lithium and Post‐Lithium Rechargeable Batteries: Progress and Outlook

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Weakly solvating electrolytes (WSEs) use anion‐dominated solvation to form stable interphase layers, overcoming energy density and lifespan limitations. This review clarifies their design, anion‐mediated interface regulation, and compatibility with lithium/post‐lithium systems, distinguishing them from conventional electrolytes, high concentration ...

Comparative Life Cycle Assessment of Perovskite Solar Cell Production: Mesoporous n‐i‐p Versus Inverted p‐i‐n Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
This work assesses the environmental impacts associated with the production of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with two different architectures, mesoporous n‐i‐p and inverted p‐i‐n, using the life cycle assessment methodology. Results indicate that producing mesoporous n‐i‐p PSCs has higher environmental impacts than producing inverted p‐i‐n PSCs, due to

Enhanced and Durable Light‐Driven Hydrogen Evolution by Cobalt‐Based Prussian Blue Analogs in Phospholipid Bilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Light‐driven H2 evolution catalysis is reported for oleylamine‐capped MCo Prussian blue analogs (PBAs, M = Ni, Co, Zn, Cu) within phospholipid bilayers and using a ruthenium‐based amphiphilic photosensitizer. The hydrophobic interactions between the active units bring them in close proximity facilitating catalysis.

Improved Carbon and Nitrogen Isotopic Ratios for CH$_3$CN in Titan's Atmosphere Using ALMA [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Titan, Saturn's largest satellite, maintains an atmosphere composed primarily of nitrogen (N$_2$) and methane (CH$_4$) that leads to a complex organic chemistry. Some of the nitriles (CN-bearing organics) on Titan are known to have substantially enhanced $^{15}$N abundances compared to Earth and to Titan's dominant nitrogen (N$_2$) reservoir. The $^{14}
