Radiation Vulcanization of Nitrile Butadiene Rubber/Butadiene Rubber Blends

Journal of Macromolecular Science, Part A, 2008
Blends of nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) with butadiene rubber (BR) with varying ratios have been prepared. Vulcanization of prepared blends has been induced by ionizing radiation of gamma rays with varying dose up to 250 kGy. Physical properties, namely soluble fraction and swelling number have been followed up using toluene as a solvent.

Effect of Curing Temperature on the Technical Properties of Nitrile Rubber and Carboxylated Nitrile Rubber

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1980
Abstract In a mixed crosslink system (sulfur and metal carboxylate) of XNBR vulcanizate, the variations of the proportions of curatives (low sulfur/high accelerator or high sulfur/low accelerator) have little effect on the vulcanizate properties.

An electroactive elastomer: polyaniline/nitrile rubber

Polymer, 1992
Abstract An electroactive elastomeric material was prepared by the electrochemical graft copolymerization of aniline with nitrile rubber. The synthesis has been carried out potentiostatically, potentiodynamically or galvanostatically in a non-aqueous medium using a nitrile-rubber-coated working electrode.

Nitrile Rubber Functionalized for Silica Reinforcement

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1979
Abstract 1. Conventional silica-reinforced NBR vulcanizates are characterized by stiffness at low elongation and low modulus at high elongations. These properties are associated with reticulate structure formation of silica particles, which occurs rapidly when compounds are heated to curing temperatures. 2.

Nitrile Rubber—Past, Present and Future

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1995
Abstract Nitrile rubber (NBR) has been the work-horse elastomer in oil and gas production for the past fifty years. Random seal and packer failures have been encountered in the more agressive fields. The higher temperatures and increasing percentages of hydrogen sulfide (H2S), naturally occuring or through well stimulation directly or ...

Hybrid reinforcement in nitrile rubber composites

Macromolecular Symposia, 2001
Nitril rubber -PVC composites having carbon black and mica fillers in different compositions as hybrid reinforcements have been studied. The degree of replacement on static-dynamic mechanical, swelling behavior of resultant composites were all discussed.

Hydrogenation of liquid carboxylated nitrile rubber

Die Makromolekulare Chemie, 1992
AbstractHydrogenation of liquid carboxylated nitrile rubber (L‐XNBR) was carried out using homogeneous palladium and rhodium catalysts. It was observed that the six‐membered cyclic palladate complex of 2‐benzoylpyridine, 1, reduces the carbon‐carbon double bonds without affecting the nitrile and carboxyl functionality.

Blends of polyaniline with nitrilic rubber

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2000
Nitrilic rubbers containing 29 or 45% of acrylonitrile were blended with polyaniline doped with different acids (chloridric, dodecylbenzenesulfonic, tetrapropylbenzenesulfonic, and p-toluenesulfonic acids). The blends were prepared by mechanical mixing in a roll-mill and vulcanized in a hot press. The volumetric conductivities and mechanical properties

Aluminum powder filled nitrile rubber composites

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2004
AbstractEffect of aluminum powder on the properties of nitrile rubber (NBR) composites and the role of bonding agent viz. hexamethylene tetramine‐resorcinol has been investigated. Shore A hardness of the aluminum powder filled composites is lower than that of high abrasion furnace (HAF) and acetylene black (ACB) filled nitrile rubber composites and can
