Temporal Control Over Complex, Simple, and Multiphase Coacervates Using Ureolysis and Ammonium Carbonate Decomposition

open access: yesChemSystemsChem, Volume 8, Issue 2, March 2026.
A new strategy for temporal control over simple and complex coacervates is described here. The urea‐urease reaction results in the timed formation and/or destruction of complex coacervates after controllable delays. This strategy is easily adaptable to different time scales and polyelectrolyte pairs.

Effects of Pyrolysis Control Parameters on the Structural Properties of Biomass‐Derived Activated Carbon Materials and Their Energy Applications

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, Volume 26, Issue 3, March 2026.
Tubular pyrolysis synthesis is a widespread method to produce activated carbons (ACs). This review focuses on the different controlling parameters of the tubular pyrolysis synthesis method and their influence on the performance of synthesized ACs, thereby considering both experimental aspects and the use of plant‐based biomasses (PBBs) as feedstock ...

Relationship Between Intraocular Pressure and Carbonic Anhydrase Enzyme Activity in Cattle: Implications for Veterinary Ophthalmology

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 2, March 2026.
Schematic representation of the relationship between intraocular pressure (IOP) and carbonic anhydrase (CA) activity in pregnant and non‐pregnant cattle. Pregnancy is associated with a decrease in intraocular pressure, while plasma carbonic anhydrase activity shows a moderate positive correlation with IOP.

Hydrazine Synthase From Anammox Is Inhibited by Linear and Aromatic Alkynes

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 28, Issue 3, March 2026.
Linear and aromatic alkynes inhibit anammox in culture and in wetlands. The inhibition by alkynes is specific to the hydrazine synthase, a key enzyme in the anammox pathway. ABSTRACT N2O emissions by nitrifiers are often estimated using selective inhibitors, such as 1‐alkynes.
