Enzymatic oxidation of p-nitrophenol

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1979
Abstract A Moraxella sp. capable of growth with p-nitrophenol was isolated from activated sludge. Differential centrifugation of crude cell extracts gave a membrane preparation that oxidized p-nitrophenol to hydroquinone and nitrite. Enzymatic activity was dependent on the presence of oxygen and reduced pyridine nucleotides and was stimulated by the ...

Determination of nitrophenols in soil

Chemosphere, 1996
Abstract A method has been developed for the determination of 2-nitrophenol, 4-nitrophenol, 4,6-dinitro-ocresol, and 2-sec.butyl-4,6-dinitrophenol in soils. The procedure includes the extraction using 5% aqueous NaOH, removal of the co-extracted humic acids from the extract.

The effect of UV absorption on the photocatalytic oxidation of 2-nitrophenol and 4-nitrophenol

Journal of Applied Electrochemistry, 2005
Adsorption of 2-nitrophenol and 4-nitrophenol by titanium dioxide was measured and their photocatalytic oxidation was followed by both HPLC analysis and measurement of the total organic carbon content of the solution. The oxidation follows pseudo-first order kinetics with rate constants that decrease as the nitrophenol concentration increases.

Biodegradation of Nitrophenol Compounds

2013
Nitrophenol compounds have been used in a number of ways in medicines, explosives, and pesticides (Munnecke 1976). Due to the intense yellow color of the phenolate anion and pH reactivity (p-nitrophenol is colorless at pH 5.6 and the corresponding phenolate anion has a maximum yellow color at pH 7.6), nitrophenols are often used directly in titrations ...
