Cyanate utilization by and cryopreservation of Nitrospira moscoviensis

2015
Nitrogen is a common element in the universe and necessary for all known forms of life on Earth. The nitrogen cycle is a key process, by which nitrogen is converted in various chemical forms by biological processes. One of the key processes in the nitrogen cycle is nitrification, describing the sequential oxidation of ammonia via nitrite to nitrate ...

[Research progress on primers and molecular ecology of comammox Nitrospira].

Ying yong sheng tai xue bao = The journal of applied ecology, 2021
Nitrification is a key process in nitrogen cycling, which has received considerable attention in the research field of soil biochemistry. In 2015, the discovery of complete ammonia oxidizers (Comammox) challenged conventional two-step nitrification perspective, which represented a paradigm shift in the understanding of soil nitrogen cycling.

The ecophysiology of nitrite-oxidizing bacteria in the genus Nitrospira

2009
Zwei verschiedene funktionelle Gruppen chemolithotropher Mikroorganismen

Comammox Nitrospira are the dominant ammonia oxidizers in the Yangtze estuarine biofilms

Water Research
Biofilms are indispensable ecological habitats for microbes that have garnered global attention and play a potential role in influencing the biogeochemical cycling of nitrogen. However, the biogeochemical significance of biofilms and the mechanisms by which they regulate nitrogen cycling remain elusive.

[Enrichment of Nitrospira in Activated Sludge and Kinetic Characterization].

Huan jing ke xue= Huanjing kexue, 2018
Nitrospira was enriched from activated sludge by using fed-batch cultivation, and its related kinetic characterization was studied. The results showed that Nitrospira could be successfully enriched from the activated sludge for a controlled nitrite concentration no higher than 2 mg·L-1. The maximum nitrate oxidation rate was 48.72 mg·(g·h)-1.

Understanding Chlorite Dismutase from Candidatus Nitrospira defluvii

Journal of Biological Inorganic Chemistry, 2014
Chlorite dismutases (Clds) are heme b containing oxidoreductases that convert chlorite to chloride and molecular oxygen. In order to elucidate the role of conserved heme cavity residues in the catalysis of this reaction comprehensive mutational and biochemical analyses of Cld from “Candidatus Nitrospira defluvii” (NdCld) were performed, using UV-vis ...
