Overexpression of Arabidopsis Nucleotide-Binding and Leucine-Rich Repeat Genes RPS2 and RPM1(D505V) Confers Broad-Spectrum Disease Resistance in Rice

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
The nucleotide-binding domain leucine-rich repeat (NLR) immune receptors play important roles in innate plant immunity. The activation of NLRs is specifically induced by their cognate effectors released from pathogens.

Artesunate Ameliorates APAP‐induced Liver Injury by Promoting NEDD4L‐Mediated Ubiquitination and Degradation of TXNIP

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Liver injury can lead to severe acute liver failure and even death in patients. Artesunate (ART), which is a derivative of artemisinin that has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of malaria, has significant regulatory effects on cell death and inflammation.

Cross‐Population Analysis of Naples Prognostic Score's Association With Sarcopenia: Insights From US and Chinese Cohorts

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
The findings of this research reveal a notable and positive correlation between the Naples prognostic score and the risk of developing sarcopenia, encompassing both community residents and hospitalized patients. As a nutritional and inflammatory indicator, the Naples prognostic score can be an efficient and convenient screening tool for the clinical ...

NLR-Dependent Regulation of Inflammation in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease of the central nervous system (CNS) associated with inappropriate activation of lymphocytes, hyperinflammatory responses, demyelination, and neuronal damage.

To Evaluate Whether Pretreatment CA19‐9 and DUPAN‐2 Levels Can Serve as Predictive Markers to Guide the Choice Between NAT and Upfront Surgery in Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
NAT‐GS was significantly more effective only in patients with one tumor marker above the reference range, comparing those who achieved 12‐month MRFS with those who did not. ABSTRACT Aim Pancreatic cancer (PC) remains one of the most lethal malignancies, with early recurrence severely affecting prognosis even after curative resection.

Nod-like receptors in inflammatory arthritis

open access: yesBiomedical Journal
Nod-like receptors (NLRs) are innate immune receptors that play a key role in sensing components from pathogens and from damaged cells or organelles. NLRs form signaling complexes that can lead to activation of transcription factors or effector caspases –

The Dual Role of Nod-like Receptors in Mucosal Innate Immunity and Chronic Intestinal Inflammation

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2014
Nucleotide-binding and oligomerization domain NOD-like receptors (NLRs) are highly conserved cytosolic pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) that play, in combination with Toll-like receptors (TLRs), a critical role in innate immunity and inflammation ...

The diagnostic and predictive role of NLR, d-NLR and PLR in COVID-19 patients

open access: yesInternational Immunopharmacology, 2020
To accumulate evidence that indicated the key role played by virus-triggered inflammation in the 2019-novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) which emerged in Wuhan City and rapidly spread throughout China.Age, neutrophil(NEU)-to-lymphocyte (LYM) ratio (NLR), lymphocyte-to-monocyte (MON) ratio, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and C-reactive protein ...

Prognostic Value of Psoas Major Muscle Volume in Assessing Sarcopenia in Elderly Patients With Rectal Cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study investigates the prognostic utility of a novel volumetric indicator—psoas volume index (PVI)—for assessing sarcopenia in elderly rectal cancer patients. Sarcopenia classified by our proposed PVI cut‐off values was associated with poor nutritional and inflammatory status, and patients with low PVI showed significantly worse long‐term outcomes.

Differential Expression Profile of NLRs and AIM2 in Glioma and Implications for NLRP12 in Glioblastoma

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2019
Gliomas are the most prevalent primary brain tumors with immense clinical heterogeneity, poor prognosis and survival. The nucleotide-binding domain, and leucine-rich repeat containing receptors (NLRs) and absent-in-melanoma 2 (AIM2) are innate immune ...
