Nm23-H1 and colon adenocarcinoma

European journal of human genetics, 2001
Nm32 gene was originally identified by differential hybridisation of K-1735 melanoma cell line clones of varying metastatic potential. A tumor metastases-supressor function was implicated by the reduced expression of nm23 in highly metastatic sublines compared with non-metastatic sublines derived from the same K-1735 clone.

Nm23-H1/NDP kinase folding intermediates and cancer: a hypothesis

Journal of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes, 2006
The Nm23-H1/nucleoside diphosphate (NDP) kinase A is a metastasis suppressor, besides its enzymatic activity. The mutant S120G has been found in high-grade neuroblastomas. The mutant protein, once denatured in urea, is unable to refold in vitro. A size-exclusion chromatography analysis of the folding/association pathway showed that recombinant wild ...

Expression of nm23-H1 in prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia and adenocarcinoma

Human Pathology, 1996
The product of the nm23-H1 gene has been reported to be related to the metastatic potential of several tumors. Although several studies have characterized the expression of the nm23-H1 gene product in prostatic adenocarcinoma, little is known of the expression of this protein in prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN), a putative precancerous lesion.

Expression and localization of nm23-H1 in the human placenta

Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics, 2002
The involvement of the nm23 gene, initially documented as a putative metastasis-suppressor gene, in normal development and differentiation has been supported by several investigations. To date, however, localization and expression pattern of nm23 in the human placenta has not been determined. In the present study, the expression of nm23-H1 was examined

Reappraisal of the role of NM23-H1 in colorectal cancers

Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2001
A number of evidence indicate that downregulation of the nm23-H1 gene may be relevant to metastatic progression of many kinds of human cancer. However, its role in colorectal cancers remains controversial. To address the issue, this study was performed to investigate the clinical relevance of nm23-H1 in patients with colorectal cancers ...

A low NM23.H1 gene expression identifying high malignancy human melanomas

Melanoma Research, 1994
The NM23 gene has been proposed as a metastasis-suppressor gene, and its use has been suggested as prognostic factor. NM23 was identified in a system of murine melanoma cell lines, in which an inverse relationship was found between NM23 expression and metastatic ability.

Nm23-H1 homologs suppress tumor cell motility and anchorage independent growth

Clinical & Experimental Metastasis, 2007
Nm23-H1 suppresses metastasis, as well as in vitro cell motility, invasion and anchorage independent growth, in a variety of cancer models. Eight human homologs of Nm23 have been identified that share 26-88% identity with the prototype Nm23-H1. Here, we examine the potential of its homologs, -H2, DR-, -H4 and -H5, to inhibit in vitro correlates of ...

[Association of nm23-H1 with orthopedic oncological conditions].

Zhonghua wai ke za zhi [Chinese journal of surgery], 2003
To explore the correlation between nm23-H1 gene and malignant and semi-malignant bone tumors.Thirty surgical specimens were collected, including 8 osteosarcomas, 7 giant cell tumors, 4 chondrosarcomas, 2 Ewing's sarcomas, 2 malignant fibrohistocytomas, 1 neurofibrosarcoma, 1 schwannoma, and 5 metastatic cancers.

Expression of nm23-H1 in human meningioma cells.

Anticancer research, 1998
The expression of nm23-H1 has been demonstrated to be highly correlated with the metastatic potential of various tumors. In the present investigation, meningiomas of different pathological grades were used to study on their nm23-H1 expression. Immunohistochemistry showed that nm23-H1 was expressed mainly in the cytoplasm especially in the perinuclear ...

Nm23-H1 gene silencing in CAL 27 cells

2008
The metastatic process is a major characteristic of cancer invasion. There is a huge amount of evidence showing that metastatic potential is greatly influenced by expression of nm23-H1 gene in some cancer types. The product of nm23-H1 gene is a subunit of nucleosid-diphosphate kinase (NDPK), which also exhibits protein kinase and nuclease activity.
