Solid-state NMR on larger biomolecules

open access: yes, 2011
In the last years, remarkable progress has been made to probe molecular structure of biological systems using Magic Angle Spinning solid-state NMR (ssNMR). Prominent examples relate to research areas that have remained challenging to classical structural

Anion‐Exchange‐Enabled Hydrogel Electrolytes With High Zn2+ Transference for Dendrite‐Free Flexible Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐Zn2+‐transference hydrogel electrolyte of ex‐PDADAM is developed via anion exchange at quaternary ammonium sites, achieving high Zn2+ transference number (0.86), ionic conductivity (8.10 mS cm−1), and toughness (51.25 MJ m−3). Symmetric cells are operated stably for over 2000 h, while flexible pouch cells retain 90.9% capacity after 300 cycles ...

Membranes Studied by NMR Spectroscopy*

open access: yes, 1999
The use of NMR spectroscopy to study the structures and dynamics of membrane systems is described. The principal nuclei used are 1H, 2H, 13C and 31P. Both oriented and nonoriented systems can be investigated. In addition, peptides and proteins embedded in membranes can be studied. © 1999 Elsevier Ltd All rights reserved.

Characterization of Properties and Transglycosylation Abilities of Recombinant α-Galactosidase from Cold-Adapted Marine Bacterium Pseudoalteromonas KMM 701 and Its C494N and D451A Mutants

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2018
A novel wild-type recombinant cold-active α-d-galactosidase (α-PsGal) from the cold-adapted marine bacterium Pseudoalteromonas sp. KMM 701, and its mutants D451A and C494N, were studied in terms of their structural, physicochemical, and ...

Coagulative Granular Hydrogels with an Enzyme Catalyzed Fibrin Network for Endogenous Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

Structural basis of RNA recognition and dimerization by the STAR proteins T-STAR and Sam68

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Sam68 and T-STAR are members of the STAR family of proteins, which regulate various aspects of RNA metabolism. Here, the authors reveal structural features required for alternative splicing regulation by these proteins.

Solid-state NMR on complex biomolecules: novel methods and applications

open access: yes, 2011
Solid-state NMR (ssNMR) represents a versatile technique in providing atomic-resolution information without the need for crystals or fast molecular motion required for X-ray crystallography and solution-state NMR, respectively.

Protein dynamics detected in a membrane-embedded potassium channel using two-dimensional solid-state NMR spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2010
We report longitudinal 15N relaxation rates derived from two-dimensional (15N, 13C) chemical shift correlation experiments obtained under magic angle spinning for the potassium channel KcsA-Kv1.3 reconstituted in multilamellar vesicles.

Modular Control of PEG‐Poly(2‐Oxazoline) Co‐Assembly Enables Tunable Aggregate Properties for Intraocular Pressure Management

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A thermo‐responsive poly(2‐oxazoline)‐based injectable formulation is developed to modulate intraocular pressure (IOP) in both normal and hypotonic eyes. By adjusting the PEG content, the aggregation behavior is finely tuned, enabling IOP elevation without long‐term deposition.

Solid-state NMR spectroscopy reveals unique properties of Trichoderma harzianum cell wall components

open access: yesThe Cell Surface
Trichoderma harzianum is a saprophyte and a mycoparasite and is also capable of forming symbiotic connections with plants. This fungus interacts with the (a)biotic environment through its cell wall and as a mycoparasite secretes enzymes that degrade the ...
